Immigration at new Arrivals
By timebandit •
I have already been in a cue here at the new arrivals immigration control for 35 mins. And by looking at the cue ahead, I would say I still have a good hour and a half to go. Plus the air con doesn't seem to be working. This is no fun at all, and not a good indication of DOH's capabilities.
I have to be very honest, sometimes the immigration lines at Washington-Dulles airport are insane too :-(
On more than one occasion I have had to wait for about an hour in line to clear it. It's that time of the day when a couple middle-eastern carriers fly into there and they don't give a damn about clearing the passengers asap :-(
I have travelled extensively throughout the world and I've never had the waits that I've experienced in Doha....yes I have an E-Gate card now but before that 45mins to an hour was the norm....why on earth the airport can't man all the immigration terminals is mind boggling...so at s-isale NO it isn't like this at most airports.
Not over an hour in immigration/passport control s_isale. Yes delays at baggage and the likes, but to get off of a bus and instantly be stuck in a cue like that one. The cue extended out of the zig zag barriers, and then wound from one side of the building to the other like a snake right back to the automatic doors. It was packed. Not what I was expecting at all. I was expecting a nice slick well oiled new building that would be properly staffed and be nice and efficient.
TB, dont you face the same problem in any other airport?
An E-Gate card will be purchased shortly. I don't mind hanging around for baggage quite as much as I mind standing in a zig zag cue for over an hour. That was an unpleasant arrival back from a lovely break.
Expatgeezer, E-Gate won't help you receiving your luggage faster than others..:) you will still have to wait to get your 1 poor bag for about 1 hour, as I did a week ago.. New Arrival sucks...
ha ha ha Isobel, i thought i was the only one who saw that..
is only for over 18's though! If I am to believe, what I am told.
So, if you are travelling with young family it does not help at all.
Doha is like any airport, sometimes you have to QUEUE, it's not cue!
welcome back anyway... :)
I see it's whining :)...thanks
and hope you have a great break!!
crazyfish the Arrival terminal has moved not the departure terminal.
crazyfish..Egate is very easy to get. The office is in the departure terminal on your right hand side as you enter the terminal building behind QNB.
Just take your Passport with a avild RP on it, they will take a photo of your and iris scan and finger prints and thats it. for one year the Egate is QR150.
I believe it is still in the same place... that's it, you don't get to ask any more questions! :-P
One more quick question, How about now since Depature terminal is moved to a new place... is the E-Gate office still in Old Depature Or it's moved to new??
It's QAR100 for 1 year and QAR150 for 2 years
its useful if you are a frequent traveller
Yep Timebandit get an E-gate and stop complaining
how can i get a E-Gate Pass.
yeah if you are traveling in the early mornings be prepared to wait for hours as they work slow and there will only be one or two people working, half the time they will be talking to each other.
typical scene from the old airport Colt.
True that... but I can understand what TB is trying to say. Earlier this month while walking through the e-gates on arrivals, I noticed the 20+ immigration counters built to ease the arrival congestion. But only 3-4 were operational at the time and there was a queue of about 100+ people waiting in line :-(
Dont worry your check in baggage will take 45min from arrival time atleast.
Ooooh, sorry, darlin', make a New Year's resolution for the E-gate pass. It's the best present I ever got!
