I am a south african indian with job prospects in QP. I have heard that indians aren't treated very well in qatar and generally in the UAE. Any comments on this statement?
My own experience says your respect and treatment at Qatar depends on the company you work for, the position, your colleagues and also on your own behaviour and attitude. But there is a discernible bias against Indians in general and non-Muslims Indians in particular.
U know people like u should be imprisoned, just for calling urself an Indian, India is over populated as it is and now we have South African people calling themselves Indians!!! oh god...
"I call upon you all, political forces, citizens, to start a new phase which is called 'Lebanon and the Lebanese people', in which we are committed to the national project, with a civilized mindset."
I think you have misunderstood it, Im an Indian in a private owned Company a sole HR Manager and my colleagues being from different nationalities especially arabs treat me with good honour.
Its a wonderful experience to learn so many good qualities in them inherited .
Hierarchical Racism...lol...(Please this is all a JOKE, don't take it too seriously)

Funny thing about racism. I had heard a lot about white racists in South Africa. I went there in 1990 and discovered that just as Whites/Afrkaaners were racist against blacks/coloureds, the indians were even more racist towards the Blacks.
What's so special about SA Indian? Which color do you have? Orange or Blue or Green? Definitely not Red, 'cause they are in US....lol.....

Don't beleive all the hype from the consultant. There are many SA Indians in Qatar. One of the reasons I chose here is the freedom/security and such compared to good old SA. In fact I know of three families in the process of moving over, and for one of them its for the second time.

Like in any society, there is a pecking order in Qatar too. If in Western Societies, it appears as a subtle glass ceiling (Class, SES, etc.), here it may be more "in your face"; but, nothing out of the ordinary. However, the minor irritants that you may have to face, in a foreign society, should be worth it, if you have a job with QP that offers you very good money. For anyone in the Oil and Gas Industry, Qatar should be a secure destination for at least the next 7 – 10 years. The fact is that, if you are qualified and good at what you do, it will come across no matter what, and you will receive the recognition you deserve. There are many Indians living in Qatar, earning good money, and enjoying life in Qatar; you could become one of them. Good Luck!
What do you mean by mis-treated? Are you asking if they're beaten? No. Are you asking if there are some people who dislike Indians from ANY nationality, then I'd guess yes. Are you asking if a local will get more money than an Indian. Well the answer is yes if they're in the same job, because the job is prioritised for a local. If you are asking if people say bad words to Indians randomly? No. You're being too vague.

So you thinks indians are treated the same as the local qataries. I have heard from a consultant who worked there that indians find it difficult as arabs consider indians in the lowest of the hierachies. I'm not really indian, actually south african indian

Sad, but truly interesting. We like to say we abhor racism, yet we sometimes practice it ourselves.

what about indians in masaeed and doha?
btw: what is the salary of an experienced engineer with 7 years experience?

UAE has a large Indian population. Indians own large businesses and provide a major boost to the economy..
and there are some idiots or rather I would call racist jerks who judge others on nationality....
But rarely seen!!!
Can anyone (especially expats) share some interview questions asked by QP and QAFCO
what kinda treatment do you mean....
its totally a false statement...
U will get the treatment, respect and recognition based on your attitude and outlook....
