I've heard it all now!!!!!!
Thief convicted
A local man who was charged with stealing items from a parked car has been sentenced to a suspended year imprisonment following his conviction.
The incident took place in Lukta area on November 23, 2009.
The plaintiff told the Doha court of first instance that he found the window of his car broken and that he lost a mobile, sunglasses and four memory cards.
The accused was arrested after a crosscheck with the fingerprints authorities.
The plaintiff told the court that he was dropping his rights to compensation for the damage to his car and for the stolen items.
However, the judges decided to go ahead with the trial on the basis of public right.
The accused told interrogators that he had broken the window of the plaintiff’s car and stolen the items, confessing that he had done the same to 18 other cars on that night under the influence of drugs.
“I had Satanic ideas on that night and that’s why I did that” the accused told the interrogators. He, however, denied the charges in the court.
From the wonderful "Court Round up" in today's GT which is fast becoming one of the country's best and consistent sources of comedic potential!!! For those of you in any doubt, the comedy value here is in the final paragraph - simply priceless!!
GT though missed a equally important news...
which happens everyday...
when I drive my car.. all the four wheels rotate in the same direction...
I mean how cool is that for a news :)
Khanan's comment was for those who understand sarcasm.
Couple of things...
We have some senile judges back home and a suspended sentence is becoming quite common for first offence..
What I don't understand from the report is that although "The accused told interrogators that he had broken the window of the plaintiff’s car and stolen the items, confessing that he had done the same to 18 other cars on that night under the influence of drugs."
He then denied the charges in the court.
What good does it do by stopping the reporting? This was what the accused had argued. Khanan has a choice however; Khanan can stop reading it. Let the others contine to enjoy the comedy and drama.
Why stop reporting what is actually happening?
It won't go away by not talking about it, you know....
Khanan, they add spice to the dull of Doha... :P
Let's not leave any of our valuables inside the car. One of my friends lost her laptop in the same way..
should stop reporting the court round up!!
