Killer States

A surge in the number of executions recorded worldwide saw more people put to death last year than at any point since 1989, Amnesty International says.
At least 1,634 people were executed in 2015, a rise of more than 50% on the previous year, the group found in its review of the use of the death penalty.
Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were responsible for 89% of the executions.
The total does not include China, where Amnesty said thousands more were likely killed but records were kept secret.
A disgusting view on our world of today.
I agree but would extend it to drug dealing , child rape and terrorism
Barbarians, honestly.
The only crime which I believe should be punishable by death is murder (since that's an 'infinite' crime)...
No man deserves infinite punishment for a finite crime, plain and simple.
I've always hated Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and even China to an extent... I hate those countries even more now.
Sure, brit. However, the executive has to obey the constitution. It's up to the creators of a constitution to embed the "human" laws which could be used throughout the planet. Most constitutions are written to protect the rulers. especially in the so-called Third World.
I would agree with you to a certain extent. The reality is that we do not live in an ideal world..
In a democracy, the majority rules..... or does it ?
And "the law of the land" sounds a bit silly while everybody is talking about the "global village". We either are a human kind or we are different species. In this case there is no human race.
Even if the majority agrees on death penalty, brit, it doesn't make it right. It makes it "legal". But the law is man-made and has no universal validity at all.
Who watches the watcher ?
My personal opinion is that you have to live by the law of the land..
If a country and its peoples allow for the death penalty, then it should be carried out for those proven to be guilty for the crimes commited.
And "killing under the cloak of a men-made law is nothing but murder." (Wild Turkey).
There was a case in my country where a journalist called soldiers of the military "potential murderers". While the military went to court to complain the judges' verdict was: the journalist is allowed to say that. Why? Because even "killing under the cloak of war is nothing but murder." (A. Einstein).
Did I say that nobody gets killed? I only said that killing is against all laws, secular ones and religious ones. So, there is no provision for a government to execute people unless they want to violate God's laws!
@Wild Turkey do you know how many people killed by USA police in encounter even they don't bother to take to persecution and the how many Palestine killed by Israel with out any persecution. But in countries you have mention they take to court and give a chance to prove Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia ...
Or guilty of blasphemy. Whatever that is.
What about "an eye for an eye.." ?
In an ideal society , i would agree with you, but we live in times where norms of a civilised society are not adhered to ... So, if a jury finds the person guilty of murder, then surely , the death sentence is acceptable
Sorry, that only applies to those who believe in a God.
Nobody has the right to kill anybody, not even governments. It's up to God to decide!
WT: This is a difficult one. Is it better to keep someone on death row for years , or life in prison paid for by the tax payer ?
Innocent people of Pakistan are frequently being targeted by the terrorists, killing children, women and men on a large scale. The irony is that once these terrorists are captured and put in jail, their accomplices, break up the jail to take them all out. In view of that, the courts are issuing the execution orders instead of life term jail, in order to kill off this menace which has killed more than 100,000 people in Pakistan.
See the footage of any terrorist attack on the civilians and then decide if death sentence on them is wrong or right.
