Leaving Doha - Advice needed
By britinqatar •
After 5 years in Doha we have finally decided to move over to Abu Dhabi.
Does anyone have any experience in moving household items into or out of Doha? Any good or bad companies to use?
We don’t have too many items to move only around 5 large boxes so I suppose around 120KG maximum.
Has anybody used just a general cargo company rather than a specialist removals company? Any info/advice apprecialted
Thanks all for your comments, sounds like GAC are a good one so will contact them.
I will need about a months storage until I find my place in Abu Dhabi so going through a reputed Logistics company I think will be better.
Raina - SO you prefered Abu Dhabi over Doha??
I used GAC to move a 1 cubic meter box from Doha to Kuwait with a plasma tv, pc's, lamps etc..etc... 4 guys came in to the house, packed everything and did a great job, i must add and were out of the house in 30 mins.
in Abu Dhabi, like Kuwait, you would be asked to be present when the customs inspect the box. GAC called me for that, arranged it all, i was there for just 10 mins and then GAC dropped the box to my place, unpacked and took all the rubbish and boxes away. Very professional. i definately recommend them eventhough they may be slightly more expensive. But for your valuable breakable items, it's worth it.
As Han414 says, GAC are good and professional.
Lucky you moving to where I used to live...Anyway, when moved from AD to Doha we used Aramix.Excellent in packing and unpacking door to door services.Give them a call and ask what will the cost be for 120KG as we had shipped 40ft containers including 2 cars with reasonable price.
Hi, I moved before from DOha to DXB then from DXB back to Doha. I have used GAC and Crown Removals and both of them are good but GAC is more professional. I also used Inchcape but it was a total disaster and the price difference is marginal if compared to GAC. However, if all what you got is 120KG then any cargo copmany can handle that even if you use air cargo through Qatar Airways or Etihad Airlines... I hope that helps!
