Life Between Today and Yesterday

Nowadays life has changed and it is never like that 30 or 60 years back for many of us, some people today became materialistic, What benifit being materialistic gives?

Some men and women like to show off, show off was there before but in a very very small perecentage, what advantage does show off give to the person who like to show off?

Connection between families was stronger, where as today it is weaker why? some say because of technology, is this really true?

Life before was hard and simple at the same time, today it is still hard for some but not simple, and for some of us today the life is simple and not hard why?

Before the reasons for divorce were minimum where as today these rasons became more why? Can we list the things which can cause divorce so married people will stay away from these reasons and live happier?

Does helping others makes you happier person? If yes, then this is a sign of the good deeds and spirit that you have. I guess what ever goes up must come down at one time, so every thing you do will pay back later on sooner or later, I guess many of us had situations where they did good things and something good happened to them, and others did something bad and something bad happened to them later, so let us simply do god things.

I remember also that one guy here in QL living said how come that some parents can raise their children improperly? The answer for this question is very very simple and there are many answers for this question, one of these answers is that when you do not make your children independent at certain age then you spoil them because they will be dependent and can never depend on them selves.

Women don't need men , but men need women...as a matter of fact, human kind needs women, without them there would be no more humans. :)Unless...men evolve to have children...but even if they could,  they probably would not survive even a single pregnancy, rofl.

In respond to some colleagues who said that women are independent of men and do not need men to walk forwards, never mind how far women can walk but in my opinion they will always need men to support them and here are some parts of articles which I picked for you:

"Sorry, but women are dependent on men

By DR NICK NEAVE

As an evolutionary psychologist, I study patterns of behaviour dating back to the first human societies, and constantly analyse evidence that demonstrates the key differences which have developed between the sexes since men were hunter-gatherers and women were child bearers.

Females are smaller and weaker than males so, in prehistoric times, women and their offspring were prone to being the victims of predators, and violence.

They needed the support and protection of men who didn't just have brute force but also had social status in the group, either through their sheer physicality or the strength of their personality.

That's why women still look for a mate of higher social standing."

Do Women Need Men?

Written by Bruce Sallan Tuesday, 16 March 2010 07:48

But, back to the subject of this column--do women need men? I assert an absolute YES. Just as men need women.  We compliment each other and, as is well known, men actually live longer married than single.  But, while there isn’t a counterpart for women, who usually outlive men and do better alone after a long marriage, I assert that in the formative, childbearing years, women need men as much as ever.  We learn from one another; we grow; we are challenged.  That makes both genders stronger. "

It's not an 'opinion', SA. It's the result of counting, and a statistical value. It can be right and it can be wrong. - I wasn't there when the scientists did their research. And I don't 'believe' anything, even if it is printed!

to help those who had experienced such situations, I personally believe that we as people share many things in common and what happen to some can happen to others.

Many problems had occured and and the causes of these problems were identified, it is true that people differe in languages, culture, religion,...etc, but at the end they are from the same origin according to me and that Adams and Eve, so I guess even with these differences the people still share in common many things maybe more than 50 %.

SA, I agree there are a few missing links in science and it's the endeavor of the science fraternity to bridge those gaps. Its a matter of time when all elusive questions would be answered about life and the universe with evidence. But the problem is, many of us are indifferent to whatever evidence scientists have gathered for us to know the truth.

By the word 'freedom' I meant each one of us has access to all information and evidence, religious and scientific and he is free to analyse and learn what he feels is right. However, I find, may of us do not have any inclination to research and separate the myth from truth. They rather stick to the beliefs of their parents.

Is it not living in denial? How can a person of average intelligence have two different views about his origin and his place in the universe? One of the two is the truth and the other an imagination! I don't want to talk about the specifics as such words would probably be offensive to some of us.

Why? What? Who? Where? Do they? Don't they? You'll make a critical thinker yet SA.Unfortunatly you want quick fix answers to the questions you pose, where in truth there arn't any. All these open ended questions you ask do not have objective truths - they have a myriad of nuiances, a multispectrum of different shades of grey.Best to think about the questions you pose yourself but flipped 180 degrees, and say 'Why not?'You do make my head explode, and sap my will to live, though!  :)

If science does not answer one of my questions does this mean that I should live in a mystery life?

People seek also for freedome, but what freedome do they want?

Do they want a freedome which steals the beauty of life or freedome where the good deeds, habbits, values, and respect are there?

It is good to seek for the truth, DK what is the truth for you?

SA, If I have to point out an important difference in people of today and that of the past..

Earlier, when science was in its nascent stage, people were ignorant about their origins and the extent of the universe around them. But now, though science has answered almost all fundamental questions about our creation, many still stay in the state of denial. I don't know what stops people to use their freedom and means available to shed their paradigms and seek the truth.

I don't think there are more material things now sally_bell I think our sense of material things has changed.  150 years ago owning a horse JUST TO RIDE (not plow your fields or pull your carriage) was a sign of wealth and indulgence, 90 years ago it was owning a car, 60 years ago it was a TV or a phone, etc.  Our sense of what signify's wealth changes over time. 300 years ago wealthy ladies in France wouldn't be caught dead without a live bird trapped in thier hair.

What benifit being materialistic gives? Nothing! But to some it gives a sense of satisfaction to know that they can get whatever they desire.what advantage does show off give to the person who like to show off? Again a sense of satisfaction to know that he/ she is a cut above the rest.Connection between families was stronger, where as today it is weaker why? some say because of technology, is this really true? - I think technology has brought families closer, look at internet chats and cellular phones. Back in the day you'd have to wait weeks to receive mail from your family in the US, now it's in seconds. Can we list the things which can cause divorce so married people will stay away from these reasons and live happier? - The best thing you can list is DO NOT get married (LOL), just live in ;-)Does helping others makes you happier person? - Yes it does me, so I do it from my own free will, not from others telling me to do it. It's called Karma and yes if it's bad Karma, it will bite you in the arse later and that too 10 times as bad :-(

I agree with you Pilgram.  There are more reasons for the increase of number of divorced couple - due to increase of population.  More materialistic people at present time- due to the availability of material things.  Blame those who invented these things.

Human nature is the same in some things but not the same in other things,

assuming human nature is standard implies that people are born innosent and then they are shaped based on the surrounding.

People are born not knowing how to read and write or what to read and write.

There was always materialism and there was always showing off, and not even in a small percentage.  It's human nature to want to show off your wealth, or "Keeping up with the Jone's" as we say in the West. Also, the reason there was less divorce in the past was because divorce was socially unacceptable and divorcee's were social pariahs and usually unable to re-marry.  Divorce no longer carries a negative social stigma so more people are getting divorced.  If divorce had been acceptable in the past you would have seen many more people getting divorced.
