Life as we don't know it..
Whilst we've been focusing on the WC bid, things of a greater magnitude have been occurring in science land..
NASA has sent the internet into a frenzy after it announced an "astrobiology finding" that could suggest alien life exists – even on earth.
The bacteria has been found at the bottom of Mono Lake in California's Yosemite National Park which is rich in arsenic - usually poisonous to life
The discovery could prove the theory of "shadow" creatures which exist in tandem with our own and in hostile environments previously thought uninhabitable.
The "life as we don't know it" could even survive on hostile planets and develop into intelligent creatures such as humans if and when conditions improve.
In a press conference scheduled for tomorrow evening, researchers will unveil the discovery of a microbe that can live in an environment previously thought too poisonous for any life-form to survive.
Dr Lewis Dartnell, an astrobiologist at the Centre for Planetary Sciences in London, said: "If these organisms use arsenic in their metabolism, it demonstrates that there are other forms of life to those we knew of.
"They're aliens, but aliens that share the same home as us."
The space agency will announce the full extent of the findings at a press conference titled “astrobiology finding which will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life”.

It's politics, brit. Since war is the perfect business to keep economies going, the USA 'invented' the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and enough people were willing to donate their tax dollars. Now, almost every major thread from humans seems to be controllable. What to do? We need an enemy to strip the tax dollars from the people. So, we invent a new (alien) thread. And business flourishes again.
This does not compute! Vger only destroys carbon based lif forms.
Does thios mean that the Aliens will be here, long after we are gone :O(
Neat. I personally enjoy finding out new things about the world around us. I'm going to have to try and watch the broadcast.
concocted by the so called "genius". I hope they won't leak it as a joke in the future Wikileaks documents! Lol!
You can't call it extraterrestrial if found on Earth. It's only a newly-discovered bacteria. Unless it was fossilized in a rock from another planet, then crashed here on earth.
They may not ease worryment, but they will help change our thoughts and perceptions - Allowing us to believe that life forms exist which may be "alien" to us.
It may help us adpat better to exploration and future understanding.
LP, some say the human body is not designed well and some improvements are required..
if you were to design a colony, would you place the main sewerage line in the middle of the entertainment centre..:)
Or should that be right here...closer than we thought! Seriously of course its likely "aliens" do exist..Alhamdullliah, Rabbul aalameen! but how will these findings make a difference? will they help in solving the worriments of our planet earth or cause further complications? And if indeed these "life as we don't know it" have co existed with us up to now I guess they must be pretty much "converted" by now hence lost their alien identity to a great extent!
Tinker without obsession we'd not have had MOST of the things in our life today that make life easy for us to live :P
Its good to be obsessed with things..obsessions drives determination.
Do you know about JINNs? At some stage it will be proved that JINNs are in fact these Aliens who lives on the earth as us but harmless to the human.
I'm happy to know that Arien exists in the Soular system.
They can't believe that the humans (as we know them) are the ultimate development of life, tinker. There must be something BETTER!!
i dont think the organisms found at the bottom of the lake should be called aliens on the first place..
its known to many of us that bacteria are very resistant creatures which can form cysts around themselves if they sense hostile environments around themselves. now, in this case its evident that the arsenic in the environment is not chemically interacting with the cytoplasm contained in these unicellular creatures...which is possible.
thus, its not a very surprising revelation if you ask me..
Oh no..... its the end of the day........... :( huwaaaaa let me first taste the sweetest thing on this mother earth :( huwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :(( LOL
Yes , I exist :P
"They're aliens, but aliens that share the same home as us."
I always wondered about The Mrs :O(
Of all the VAST universe..and in some cases multiverses we'd be fools to think there isn't life out there. Its a different case that we have not come across hard evidence of beings in space crafts but who knows what kind of beings exists else where. Do they look like humans...is the HUMAN design universal or are they shorter, taller, two hands, two feet! Its just mind boggling to think about all that.
Life as we don't know it posts on QL daily.
Where are you unknown?
They live amongst us...yet remain unknown to us...
"The event will be streamed live on the internet tomorrow evening." .. hmmmm will it be more exciting than the WC announcement? :P
That's it... the Aliens are going to invade planet earth sooner than we think.
And all this time we thought the Indian's are going to do that :-P
Will they show Aliens too, in this event ? :(
The event will be streamed live on the internet tomorrow evening.
