The magic cure for depression

Straight Arrow
By Straight Arrow

Why to be dispressed?
A person will be dispressed if he is afraid from something, or if there is something he can not achieve.
We have to remember that every one will leave this life when all what is decided for him is achieved in terms of welth or any other things.
For example do not set and say the job will come to me sooner or later, it will come only when you go and look for the job.
You will only take what is decided for you, so live happily and enjoy life.

ok, maybe it is DEPRESSION cuz evryone is answerin about it...

DEPRESSION....yup i can relate on that since i was DEPRESSED way way back then....years.... been depressed for almost half year 8 years ago, did not care for anything or for anybody even for myself because of family problem or the thing you called separation or finally realized your husband of more than 5 years is not normal...DEPRESSION it takes a lot of courage and strength to come out of it... AND FAITH IN GOD...

BUT you are also not normal if you are not depress sometimes. It means it is part of your life, it depends on what or which level you are into depression...

I know what Khalid the tiger is trying to say, but you have to be a strong believer and a good understanding of the qadrah of Allah, which is hard for some Muslims to understand !

Here some clarity :

Abu al-‘Abbas ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas, radiyallahu anhuma, reported: One day I was behind the Prophet, sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam, and he said to me:

"O young man, I shall teach you some words [of advice] : Be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him in front of you. If you (have need to) ask, ask of Allah; and if you seek help, seek help from Allah. Know that even if the Nation (or the whole community) were to gather together to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you with anything except that which Allah has already recorded for you, and that if they gather together to harm you with something, they would not be able to harm you with anything except that which Allah has already recorded against you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried."

[Al-Tirmidhi relates this and says: It is a good, genuine Hadith]

In a version other than that of al-Tirmidhi it reads:

"..Be mindful of Allah, you will find Him before you. Get to know Allah in prosperity and He will know you in adversity. Know that what has passed you by was not going to befall you; and that what has befallen you was not going to pass you by. And know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship."

conclusion

This hadith teaches us how we can live a peaceful and happy life by being mindful of Allah and by totally trusting and worshipping Him. By understanding qadar positively, we will not live a stressful, unhappy life of always worrying about our future or what the consequences of our actions or decisions will be. We do our best to fulfil Allah’s obligations and we trust and accept whatever He wills for us.

People suffering from anxiety, panic, stress and depression should consult a specialist and only then should use the medicine, as there can be various reasons behind the disorder. Medicines used to cure such disorders are habit forming and should be used for small duration. As per my personal experience, I have used Xanax and it helped me in getting over my panic and anxiety disorder. You can have all necessary information about this on http://www.xanax-effects.com Along with medicine, the concerned person should take a break from his/her regular schedule, go out and take good sleep.

NOT- dispressed.

LEARN THE SPELLING BEFORE POSTING.

Also learn about the illness.

You make a mockery of all people that suffer from this illness.

So is depression due to chemical imbalances cured this way also? How about depression brought on by delusion? Or better yet, serious trauma depression such as Brit suggested?

He must believe that what happened would have happened in any away, and what did not happen would not have happened in any way.

There is an arabic poem which says

Who did not die by the sowrd would have died by something else.

Why the sowrd? well because many years ago the people were fighting in the wars using sowrds all over the world.

I have a very dear friend (he lost his 2 year old child in an accident) who sufferes from bouts of depression. I have been around him when he goes through these phases and believe me its not a simple matter to inderstand or find a cure for.

We should be thankful that we are not in similar situations.

Ms. Chief, if QL is a cure for your "depression" I seriously doubt you are actually depressed. Maybe a bit down in the dumps but depressed you are not.

...cure for depression.... one can just surround himself with people who'll make them happy or atleast uplift the state of his emotion..... other's can pop anti-depressant (prescribed...pls.)

One effective cure for it (as for me atleast)..... is logging to QL & see what comes and goes around the outside confinement of my 4 walled cell- uhm office...

Works for me.... especially during "Arghh #@*!$#!@!" days at work....

'hope y'all had a great day....'

Sadness, anxiety and such are not the only causes of depression and avoiding them do not guarantee a "cure". Also, trying to live a carefree life so to speak has absolutely nothing to do with battling depression.

Agree with PM on this one, it is just a wee bit more complex.

sadness is one very mild form of depression,if that is what the poster meant.depression is a natural reaction to a stressful situation either external or internal conflict, for the fact that we humans have emotions.but becomes unhealthy if it is prolonged & it got to the point that some harm/injury may happen or happened to the person or others.

Khalid, please do not post on things you know little about. Depression is a serious psychological and physical condition. You don't impress me as anyone who has studied psychology OR biology. To imply that a few senseless words from you is a magic cure for depression is an insult to all those who suffer with this condition.

If you must keep preaching about Islam on QL, then do so. But please leave the medical discussions to people with knowledge.

i dont think people who worry or are depressed are weak......

By Straight Arrow• 7 Jun 2009 13:32

Yes it is the nature of the people to be worried and me as a muslim some times I got worried but what I mean is we should not be weak and reach a point where we kill our self.

Your advice is pertinent, especially to fellow Muslims. However, we are all human and the tendency to worry is natural.
