MAKE QL TRIPS MORE BENEFICIAL

I agree that early on the working of the site and the groups is unclear.  Is there any way so that when a person joins they automatically get messages sent to them  telling about the different groups and how to use the site rather than figuring it out by themselves?

Snow storm, think from a bigger prospective. Do u think QL is lisenced by the Qatari government? its a fun site, not a company, those who r intrested goolge it and join it and I think QL is quite famous around Qatar, in a small country like this word of mouth is enough to get QL recognized.

That would be a great way of doing it! It would definitely sort out those who stand up and do something about things from those who just sit around moaning about things.

Like everything else it has to be on a plate.

Maybe they should have to arrange a trip before they are allowed to join the group.

Snowstorm, are you for real? You must be completely blind not to know how social gatherings work on QL. There's lots going on and anyone who meets the criteria can take part, but you have to make the first move if you want to attend. People aren't going to come to you specifically to see if you want to come.

Wake up and try working things out for yourself before you post an attack on how social gatherings work, or ask someone for help and advice about it.

And stop SHOUTING will you. 

nwebies arnt ignored.... i am a newbie.. and i was not ignored.. i practically joined every gathering since the last two weeks.. even though my first trip was 2 weekz bak..

but it is also my fault because i never applied for membership untill yet.

and now i feel the time is right to ask DaRuDe for opening the door.

No newbies are ignored...but we cannot tell them what to do or not. we could only suggest. Like what I suggested/mentioned to JINKZ when she got her 200 point marker...it still her choice to join or not, right?

Last night's night out at Rydges were a mixture of the senior (i don't like this word, really) posters/members and some newbies too. Any event/gathering are announced and those who wanna join posts that they're coming....some don't post at all but still show up...

On the part where you said about QL getting noticed...

Darude, I am  not complaining but only saying that it took me while to know about the groups and the PM thing. before that I tried to join in some trips but didn't get any reply, I agree that the right way is to join a group but didn't know that and same is the thing with some new members..

Tell me, now can I join the social group!

Members of the QLSG (Qatarliving(dot com) Social Group submitted subscription requests for approval. Those posters 2 weeks old members of the forum with 200 posts are legit to apply.

As this is voluntary, invites are through the forum...no special procedure. Only SPECIAL TREATMENT from the Mudir himself....lol

Events such at the Fuwarit trip or the Simaisima beach trip are those who wanna join...also voluntary...TO UNWIND, RELAX and get to know each other better...end result: more friends.

What other benefits you are meaning to say???

Does that make any sense. I never got a PM from him or email asking me for any kind of info about QL trips or any event but he never did any but he was quick in complaining.

There are 115 members i send them email and always the number that join is around 40-60 never all of them joined. so what does that mean ?? am i asking them or picking that you come and you dont come.

I'm not clear on your post.  Are you suggesting (1) more people should be invited to QL Social Group outings, OR (2) the outings should be "big events" (more elaborate and have more things to do)?

The outings I've been on have been big enough.  The Fuwarit outing was elaborate enough:  visiting a farm, camel stable, then the beach itself.   Since this is all vounteers and we aren't professional event planners, we want to keep it simple. 

If you're talking "WHO INVITED", the people who are invited are the active posters.  Did you see the movie Matrix?  Many people don't get unplugged from the Matrix unless they are special (Neo, Trinity, etc.).  For those special people (read:  heavy QL-posters), they can leave the Matrix and see the real world (read:  QL outings).

Nice gesture, but I think the reason people need points first is to weed out the complete nutters.  I know I wouldn't feel completely safe about everybody coming!

QL get noticed?? yea QL is being noticed with the mugs in the offices and sticker on their cars which were given to them.

 You tell me what can you do to get QL noticed leave others. i think you are also part of QL.
