Thanks. Do you know of a temp agency or website I can contact or register with? BTW, your digs in Turkey sound fantastic. I've only spent a few weeks there, but it was one of my favourite places.

If you can type then I don't think you will find it difficult to get a temporary secretarial or administrative position. Many staff go on leave in Summer during the school holidays and that should mean that companies are looking for temporary staff.

Good luck.

Hi there,

My husband and I are awaiting news on whether we have jobs at the Asian Games in Doha from June to December. Sports is his profession and so he is more likely to get a job than me. I think living in Doha would be an amazing experience, but I'm concerned that if only he had a job I would go crazy for six months at home. We have no kids. I'm 27 and have always worked in my profession (journalism, communications) and enjoy the social activity and independence of work. I guess I'm just wondering if there were enough things to occupy my time there, if it's normal for a Western women to explore the city alone and if there were others in this situation?

I very rarely used the banks to transfer funds to the UK.

You get a much better rate at the money changers and it frequently arrives quicker.

Al-Saad Exchange were the one that I always used.

Lots of banks here. You even have international banks like HSBC and Standard Chartered.

Changing hard currency is easy (travellers cheques are a bit of a pain) - just go to a bank with forex and they will do it straight away.

About how much u should bring...well, that all depends on what u are going to need (accomodation, furniture, etc.)
