My conversation with UAE embassy receptionist

Aslam O Alikum

Planning to Dubai on Eid and thought to get UAE visa stamped instead of arrival to save time, I called up the embassy yesterday

Me :- Hi I wanted to get UAE visa stamped,
Recep :- come to embassy 8 to 11,
Me :- ok, please tell me how many pictures or what other documents are required
Recep :- you need visa come to embassy
Me :- but tell me about documents so I can bring with me
Recep :- Hanged up

I was annoyed, called again she did not picked up.

Today before going called the number again

Me, hi can you confirm me how many pictures are required and other docs for UAE visa
Recep, come to embassy 8 – 11
Me I know but please confirm so I do not have to come and go back again just to get some more paper work??
Recep, hanged up

I dialed again

Tried to explain she hanged up.

Really pissed off, anyways went to embassy and they said since my title is Manager (i.e. I am entitled visa at arrival) the have stopped issue visas @ embassy only I can get arrival, I said thanks to that lady and left.

However, I am surprised at rudeness of UAE embassy receptionist, if am seriously thinking of capturing via recording that rude behavior and send to her boss.

Anyone else experienced similar behavior?

By the way if you do not believe me call the embassy “+ 974 4838880” and repeat my question you will see that I am not lying.

What’s your suggestion should I forget and move on or rude people like her be taught a lesson by recording and passing the evidence to Management of embassy?

In my country and many many many others with "know how", either the receptionists are trained for the job or they have an answering system with a menu to choose from, with the most frequent requested information.

It’s true Gardarene, a nation(s) with the highest GDP (gift from planet earth) and so little development and perhaps brains (skills such as leadership)!

I am sure she knew this much english what docuemnts are required, she understood that.

The english of arabs have improved to very decent level in new generation.

Abu agreeded we should fix ourselives, now I have manners of phone and despite behing on Manager position even if an office boy call me I will speak with simile since all human beings are equal.

So after this, I feel I have right to report her or try to make her speak well.

@ salad, waste of time mate...it's going to make no difference whatsoever...not @ the UAE embassy or any establishment in this town...just have to accept that as the backwardness of this place...with the highest GDP on the planet & so much material wealth...how ironic is that eh?!...

I think she don't know much english other than this which she told you...."come to embassy 8 to 11" and "You need visa come to embassy"..........

Walikum Salam,

What is the situation in your local embassy let alone the country... ... no offense mate.

My point is, each one of us should fix ourselves first and eventually everything shal be fixed....

Because fixing others is a never ending story...

Take it EASY & BON VOYAGE...

of course not,roshu...

a receptionist is expected to have certain basic manners when attending a fone call and if she doesn't have them, then she is not fit to do her job and she ought to be fired....period.

himu,

complaints only work when they are received by professionals... sorry mate, not the case with the great majority of employers in this part of the world.

no matter how many certificates and awards they display, they are meaningless....

The problem described in this post happens very often in the Middle East when certain nationalities are employed as receptionists (from small private businesses to high ranked public and government offices). That is why Qatar airways tend not to hire those nationalities as flight attendants!

Besides having no personal skills their employers don’t give them professional training. The ignorance is not only theirs, but essentially their employer’s.

Same thing happened to me also. I called UAE embassy to get some information. Same stupid reply. UAE embassy is pathetic.

We all know customer service sucks in most of the sectors....

The employers or the govt. bodies are not interested to improve it, so you cannot do anything.

forget it and next time dont call the embassy, visit them..lol..

GodFather.

I must confess. The only thing I like about QTel call centres is the last few words which they all use and have good control over and here are those words..The rest of the conversation is diabolical..

Have a nice day!

This problem is a near universal one in the Gulf. Employees here obviously don't get training on proper telephone etiquette. Don't shoot the messenger; the employer is to blame.

I can't tell you how many times I've called a place of business and the person answering the phone has simply grunted into the receiver, leaving me to ask them whether I had reached the correct shop/business.

And that's when I can get them to answer the phone! Half the time the phone just rings and rings and rings...

Most places here don't have websites, and those that do aren't functioning properly or updated regularly.

For being in such a service-oriented region, they certainly don't know much about customer service and business-like behavior here.

that someone answered the phone. At my embassy they never answer the phone. Next time don't bother calling and just check the website.

I know but i was going via road, last time had to do 6 hour process at border, due to eid rush, so this time wanted to get that stamped,

I knew i could get at arrival also.

The point is she was just not willing to listing, pick up the phone and just say come to embassy, not listing to any query and hang up....

what an idiot telephoney operator, that's what annoyes me

you are asking her how many pics or whaever docs are required for the grant of visa....

first tell them ur designation and let them confirm you are getting visa upon arrival at dubai airport..

since you are a manager...you should know that you no need to apply any visa application over here to uae embassy....

allright, here comes to complain, best is to provide solid evidence may be need her to be called and recorded her rude behavior and hanging up, any tips on best way to do this.

If anyone works in embassy come up???

Salad, I agree with you,..I choose :

or rude people like her be taught a lesson

yes, they have to be taught to do their job, which is helping people to save their time,... she's acting like this because many called her and they just move on,...go ahead and chaise her,..:)

anyone knows the management of UAE embassy or where to complain, the point being these people get salaries paid to help public basic queries in gentle manner.

Not to have free money and hang up phones on customers?

It's not about time buddy,

I wasted 4 hours going and coming back, including timing if that girl would have told me the info in first place requiring no visit.

i am also sure by doing post, i possibly have helped lots others between now and future years those who may be requiring similar info as to what i was looking for.
