NASA's Exploration to Mars
While we all have our eyes into London Olympics, NASA had already apparently decided to give everyone a headturn with its incredible Journey to Mars.
Congratulations to Entire Team !

NASA’s rover Curiosity touched down deep in a Martian crater early Monday after a picture-perfect descent and landing, beginning what promises to be the most ambitious planetary mission in history.
Jubilant NASA engineers and scientists let out a loud and prolonged whoop when the data came in indicating that the one-ton rover had touched down. It remains unknown exactly what shape the $2.5 billion rover is in, but the fact that it survived its “Seven Minutes of Terror” descent was cheered like the grandest Olympic triumph.
The descent and touch down were tracked by the Mars orbiter Odyssey, which allowed Curiosity to send black-and-white fisheye images within minutes of the rover’s wheels on the ground.
Described by top NASA officials as their “mission of the decade,” the just-delivered rover will search for the makings of extraterrestrial life as well as investigate how and why Mars turned from a once wet and warm planet into the dry and cold place it is now. The complex, precision landing and sophisticated instruments could hasten the day when humans fly to Mars as well.
“It doesn’t get any better than this,” said NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. “This is a huge day for the American people.”
The landing took place within the 9-by-3-mile ellipse selected for touchdown. The rover is most likely in a dune field now, but will set out for nearby Mount Sharp in the weeks ahead.
To get there, the Mars Science Laboratory spaceship (MSL) traveled 354 million miles since it’s Nov. 26 launch. It landed at 1:32 a.m., as planned months ago.
The MSL spacecraft went into entry mode almost 50 minutes before landing — meaning that mission control could do virtually nothing beyond that point. Soon after, leader of the Entry, Descent and Landing phase Adam Steltzner told the engineers in mission control that the spacecraft was about to enter Martian atmosphere in “fantastic” shape.
Mission officials had been concerned that the satellite Odyssey might not be able to move into the correct position to listen as MSL entered the atmosphere, but 20 minutes before entry, mission control learned the satellite had made the necessary moves and could track the entire descent and landing.
In keeping with the good fortune with Odyssey, the many milestones in the descent were met with loud applause and relieved laughter as one bit of good news came in after another.
A few hours before landing, NASA’s Chief Scientist, John Grunsfeld, concluded that “We’re about to do something that I think is just huge for humankind — put this chemistry lab on the surface of Mars that can rove, that can see, and that’s going to provide scientists on Earth a glimpse into the past history of Mars.
He likened the public excitement about Curiosity to the first Apollo moon landing in 1969. He said that the rover’s landing day happened to be the birthday of Neil Armstrong, the first moon walker. “We’re going to nail it for Neil,” Grunsfeld said.
A short time before landing, Grunsfeld predicted that “Curiosity will set us up for the day when men and women will land on the surface of Mars, and it might not be that far away.”

Good. Enough damage has already been done on this planet.
nomerci, This is just another theory of a theoretical physicist that may seem possible in theory but not a practical solution to finding another abode for humans.
Why don't we just stop meddling, and leave things to develop as and when they are supposed to.
Well done NASA!
What's good for us earthlings is to now gradually think of ways to change the conditions on Mars to that of Earth. The other day I was reading an article in which one scientist proposed to continuously strike Mars at its poles with artificial asteroids. This would generate heat and turn the solidified carbondioxide into gas and ice into water which in turn would trap greater heat from the sun to heat up the planet.
Once the planet is heated up in about a few hundred years, some bacteria or blue-green algea or even green plants could be released there to multiply. Gradually, the place would have some oxygen for animals and finally humans to relocate!
Well done to NASA. I'm excited to see the pictures and video.
yes!~ that's my point!
Aeroplanes or whatever the bulk travelling trend at that time would be...can be a secondary option that's cheaper than faxing urself :P
Then there would be no need for aeroplanes or to travel.
where' ever fax is capable of transferring data!
Lets say Point A to Point B :)
Transfer where
Since my teenage, i'v always wondered if ever we'l be able to transfer ourselves within seconds like Fax !
LP: You really thought i was serious with 3012 ?! i ain't even sure if this will last for another century! lol
btw, Qatar Airways might exist with another name 'Qatar Spaceship!'
I would make sure that you are not travelling with me at the same time, BG!
lol LP i swear u can just go on and on
Well done, NASA. Now let us imagine what could be done if all the money spent by all the nations of the world on wars, developing N-bombs useless religious organizations could be diverted to peaceful projects.
However, I don't think Qatar Airways would ever be able to do such sophisticated procedures without mistakes.
brit, I agree that matter cannot move with the Speed of Light. But there is the possibility that computers record your DNA information sequence, and while you cease to exist as matter, the information about you can be transferred with the Speed of Light. At your destination you will simply be re-assembled according to your DNA information!
Thanks, BG.
LOL mr.intelligent is still here good noon LP have a great evening ahead on ql
It will be a long pipeline and no-one , even Qatar Airways with its flux engined Boeing 999 can travel faster than the speed of light.
This is nonsense! In 3012 there will be the flux generator based on super conductivity, propelling rockets with warp 7 beyond the Speed of Light. Qatar Airways will not exist anymore because they forgot to invest in brains!
you got it there Britexpat...indeed Qatar will in 3012 !
Prism.. no harm in sneaking into profiles..its meant to be! :) i didn't realize ur initial comment was sarcastic.
It has a lot to do with Qatar because Rasgas will supply LPG to Mars colony
So True BG! :)
yeah he might get happy and go lucky
_noms_ ...as I dont look into profiles I dont know how long you have been on QL else you would get the drift...:) try again, may be you may...:)
LMAO noms very true 90% is copy paste material telegraph, the sun , huffin, bbc , gulf times , emirates2.com n blah blah
Prism welcome back :)
you're missed these days :)
Prism: if that's so, Qatar has nothing to do with majority of Post here.!! Better then leave QL & read NewsPapers!
Agree with LP. What has Qatar got to do with this....:)
i see LP succeeding in his mission!
what's this talk about every piece of news having to be related to qatar and only qatar?? this is sth exciting for us to read no? is there sth i shd be aware of?
...i just learnt, even posts from 'QL eternal naysayers' is too deleted??? ...lol
I guess it must be anything otherthan indian bashing!!!
lol
Lmao paint her.....:)
I bet, even this thread will turn up as why Indians with so big populace failed to do great in Olympic...LOL
...time to think for the 'eternal naysayers' :P
Indian bashing (only) is encouraged in QL, i can say this with my long "fruitful" experience with QL and its lovely Mods :)
lol LP,, you seem to be still blown away since mods deleted your post yesterday! :)
however iam afraid, most mods will have least affect with your comments but one might end-up blocking your account :(
what policies? it clearly states in the description of the thread that this thread/topic is about anything unrelated to the more "serious" forum topics
I suggest the mods stick to their own guidelines.
A lot of angst and insecurities coming from LP. . . Please help this guy. . .
LP that is why this is posted in Forum under QATAR LIVING LOUNGE. . . I suggest you read the description of the category. . .
it says : Chill out in the lounge. Hang out here with friends from Qatar Living and chat about anything unrelated to the more "serious" forum topics...
This thread has all ingredients to end up bashing nationalities or countries. Why is it the Americans? Why not the Qataris who send a probe to Mars? Are they unable to do something ingenius?
I only want to remind the mods of their policies, Rizks. But, as you can see, they censor what they like!
Lols LP, you on a roll today ! :)
What does Qatar have to do with this? Irrelevant!
“This is a huge day for the American people.”
This is QATARLIVING!
