New Passport @ Mumbai a NIGHTMARE

Blockhead
By Blockhead

Guys,

I had accidently damaged my Passport on Arrival at one of the worst airports in the World......Mumbai. It was rainin a result of which i slipped in a Pothole quite common on Mumbai roads and lightly smudged my Passport.

Gettin a new Passport was a NIGTMARE and Mumbai an Area Famous for CORRUPTION held no bounds, I cut through strings bribed my way thru quite common in Mumbai and eventually got a Passport in Record 20 days.

Lesson Learnt: Be careful with all Govt documents or Keep your Pockets full if you have the Money NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE IN INDIA.

Gotta teach my Kids BRIBE YOUR WAY THRU especially in Mumbai the land of the DAMNED

quit being a blockhead & teach your kids not to try & be smart & save a few bucks by walking on the street in Bombay @ the start of the monsoon & instead be practical & take a cab or a rick....my father taught me this,AS SOON AS you pass immigration,PUT AWAY your passport in a ZIPPERED bag & preferrably lock it,an Indian citizen doesn't need to flash their passport around  WITHIN India for MOST things, driving license or PAN card is accepted & often preferred as a source of identification...

@OP... looks like u can spare your kids from learning the tricks to bribe for the time being & rather teach them to be aware of the possibilities available to get a job done.

You blockhead..don't you know that paying a bribe to government officials is a crime. You bribed your way through, so you are their partner in crime.

Now you are eternally damned blockhead!

I MUST ADMIT THAT YES BRIBE IS COMMON AND ONE OF THE WORST ASPECTS OF CORRUPTION IN INDIA, HOWEVER PWHEN I HAD TO MAKE MY PASSPORT TRSU ME IT TOOK ONLY 5 WORKING DAYS,,, YES WITHIN 5 DAYS THE PASSPORT WAS DELIVERED TO MY DOOR STEP WHICH IS RAIGAD 180 KMS AWAY FROM MUMBAI... AND TRUST ME I TOOK THE PROPER CHANNELS AND SUBMITED THE DOCS.. IN JUST 2500 INR... MY DEAR FRIEND EVERY COUNTRY HAS A DARK SIDE ONLY THE THING IS YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO UTILISE THE SOURCES...

'blockhead' eh?...well at least you're honest about it!...as BluePanther correctly pointed out,DESPITE the HUGE levels of corruption in India,it is actually possible(if you have your application in order & with all required documents, just like anywhere else on the planet.) to get a new passport in both Bombay & Bangalore(don't know so can't comment about the rest of the country) within a week or two weeks for an increased fee, through the Tatkal scheme...& the next time you're in Bombay, especially during the monsoons!, just hop in a cab, unlike here, you can actually flag one down pretty much anywhere or just jump in a rick!...there is an easier way out! :)...

There is something called tatkal service. I don't know whether you have it in your place or not. One have to pay a little more (not bribe), and go collect it from the issuing office. I think it will take maximum of 15 days. I don't know whether this is applicaple for re-issuing or not. Have a good day :-)

...and count yourself lucky that you were not caught bribing the security guys and others on the close circuit television out there as if they had got you on camera then you would have been in additional trouble for bribing and corrupting goverment officers.

You make it look like the pot holes in bombay are very big. Wait until you get to the Industrial area out here  and you will then say bombay was better or was there a pot hole at the immigration counter or the customs out there.  Its the rainy season out there during this time of the year and you should have been extra careful just like everybody else.Asia's third largest economy will turn into a $150 billion market for passenger airplanes  and services over the next 20 years, and I am sure they dont have time to waste on people who are not careful with their documents.http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/Boeing-values-Indian-aircraft-market-at-150-bn-in-20-years/articleshow/9139466.cms
