QNB head office is not approving any loans. the QF branch is sending them through but they are all being rejected. they don't know why.

anyone heard anything about trouble in the banking sector? i heard that some expats are getting personal loans and running off without paying them back.

I know for a fact that commericialbank qatar is offering personal, vehicle and mortgage loans at the best rates ever. You might want to give them a call.

nigelreid, yes banks still offer vehicle loans but they may require more of a downpayment or something. check with your current bank.

i'm expecting new and used car prices to drop slightly given there may be excess supply and also given what's happening in the US and Japan.

this is going to really affect the value of used cars, surely, just in the way that no mortgages brings down the value of houses.. and, people need cars in Qatar.. what are they going to do? I'm sure vehicle loans are still available

get acquainted to it as most banks have either tightened criteria or stopped lending altogether. this will remain in place until the current environment picks up.

don't stress, this is not only happening in the qatar but globally as well.

with regards to expats skipping, has happended previously and will continue to occur regardless of economic environment.
