no P only B

hey everyone.

most of us know the arabic letters does not have P but B. so understandably most of the arabs find it difficult to pronounce words that start with P.

But we have words like pepsi, passport used so often everyday...wouldnt u think it was easy to pick up the P of the word. and it doesnt go like bebsi...it usually goes bepsi....so the p sound does come to them.

why does this happen.......is it simply bcos of the missing letter that they are just not used to pronouncing it? i have heard a few highly educated local individuals struggle with the words.

does this happen with any other language?

i am curious.............what do u think?

if we were to learn and speak in arabic..........would we too struggle with more of b and no p to pronounce in arabic. would we confuse it in english as well?

PS: this is not meant to offend anyone..............so pls dont take it wrong.

My arab friend once said "I will park the car and go to pray" with the b's instead of the p's

thats news to me about tamil letters.

didnt know that.

which language confuses z with g.

i know of people who have been taught wrong so they pronounce wrong.....ex...gero for zero, carner for corner and the likes.

is this problem because of the letters?

happy heart

drive safe cos someone is waiting for u at home

Tamil Alphabat Does not have the letters B and H. Instead they use P and K in place of B and H

Accordingly "Beverly Hills" would be written as "Peverly Kills".

When they use thie language, they know what to pronounce at what point. But when it comes to situations like above they tend to struggle.

honestly, you and I would struggle with most language which is not english and/or is not our native tongue... I know quite a few from my country who whould could not make head or tail out of Z and G... they would pronounce Zero as Gero....

oh man, I am totally awful in Arabic. Really when ever I speak to someone in Arabic...they say "excuse me, I don't speak English".

It's because they speak so much from the throat and I find it difficut...so I try to say Arabic words with an English accent...and I just get laughed at.

But, you gotta keep on tryin' :O)
