An article on Al Watan News paper today confirmed that Expats buying property in Qatar are not guranteed residence permit and the law stipulates that the Minister of Interior "may" grant expats who buy property in Qatar residence visa for 5 years that may or may not be reniewed.

The article said that expats form risk to the culture, demography and balance of the sovreagnity of the State and therefore no law can provide such promise ... same like Duabi

So if you were thinking of buying property you may need to think again ...

Don't worry, they won't kick you out. First you have to sell your property after 5 years, probably at a lower price. Then you can pay back part of your bank loan. For the rest of the loan they'll keep you here in prison.
