The opposite seems to be happening now
Housemaid attacks Saudi employer with axe
An Ethiopian housemaid wielding an axe attacked her Saudi employer just as he returned home from work, causing serious injuries to various parts of his body.
The 35-year-old man had just opened the door of his house in the central town of Zalfi when the maid jumped and hit him on the head.
As he started bleeding, he fled out but she chased him and hit him again on the hand. When he was finally at the main gate, she struck him in the shoulder but he managed to jump out of the house and scream for help.
“Passers by rushed to him and put him in a car, which took him to the hospital….doctors saved his life but he remained in the intensive care unit,” Kabar Arabic language daily said.

How many of us to be honest have been ripped off and abused by these people? I have- my friends have and many people on this site have.
They take the *iss all the time.
They take the money - don't do the work - come up with some crisis and because we feel sorry for them give them *hits load of money.
They are users.
numerous cases of abuse which is the darn fact over here up to Lebanon. I don't know what's wrong with these people doing this. Have they been abused too? Indonesia has stopped sending workers to Saudi and the Philippines has negotiated for some conditions for employers to meet before being to hire. But this I think wouldn't stop the abuse because these place sorely lacked strict laws, and if it has, well, damn if we do damn if we don't.
I totally agree with you that authorities certainly need to step up and severely punish those caught abusing their maids. As long as they continue to turn a blind eye and/or treat them with lightness, such crimes are bound to happen!
Fatimah- This poor maid has been like a caged bird out there and now that she is in deep trouble and her life may be at stake she will be willing to say anything that she is asked or forced to say. If only the authorities were pro active and realized and understood that the maids were human beings just like themselves and they needed to be treated humanely this tragic cases would never have happened
For every maid who is abused by her employer, you may hear stories of employers who treated their maids with great kindness and fairness and yet had them rob them, cheat them, and yes even kill them.
However when it comes to this maid it appears to be a different case. The method in which she carried out the attack, that too obviously aware of the harsh penalties, certainly suggests an act of vengeance. Now was this due to abuse or some other reason will be speculation until the facts come out.. which again might not happen!
That said when it comes to maids and employers even the most bizarre, out of whack things can happen.Like the maid who recently killed little Tala in Saudi has confessed to her crime saying her reason was that she found out her employers were planning on sending her home, and happy as she was in her life there, she didn't want to go back!
No where in the post did it say the maid was abused. People assume when maids do things like its because the employer is treating them bad.
Its not the case. I know someone who was very kind to her maid. Gave her good salary brought her clothes. Well one day the maid decided to leave. My friend told her she could leave in 2 months because her contract was going to expire. I guess she couldn't wait that time so she just took off. But before she left she took all of my friends jewels. Electrnocis. Dishes told
I'm not saying this maid the case wasn't abused but don't jump to conclusion
It was not also mentioned in the report that she was treated well.
I would imagine if she had the gumption to do such a thing, knowing that there are such harsh consequences - she must have been desperate and most likely was abused.
If you treat them right, they will serve you the way you want to be served. In this case: Housemaid attacks Saudi employer with axe, there's a logical explanation and that is maltreatment.
If you have time just go over to our center for runaways where you can hear their stories.
Behaving strangely does not mean that she is abused. However, she is going to be in deep trouble now.
brit you can read at the last paragraph:
"It said the maid, in her 20s, was arrested by police who was told by her employers that she was behaving strangely recently."
The poor maid was probably abused which leads her to do such vengeful act.
blind assumption brite
Where does it say that she was abused ?
after so many abuses heaped upon her. Will somebody do it in a country where they know they cannot leave if not only for the unbearable abuse they suffered? You can't imagine the atrocities they do on their poor maids. For me, just serves him right. Tit for tat, as simple as that!
It is relevant. It will advise locals not to keep axes indoors where maids can get to them..
yeah but the news is good for saudi citizens as it happened in saudi n not in qatar and is irrelevant to qatar and qatarliving !
yeah! for a change...
so that news will not always be abused on the maid.
Nothing from the report to suggest that she was abused.
Good old joe and emirates.com something fishy here how many id's in total
Looks like for a change the abusers and tormentors of this poor and helpless maids are now themselves in need of protection
Did he not pay her Headache Allowance?
point is what he found interesting in an ethiopian housemaid :D, or she ran after to grab him in her arms...!!
an act of either revenge or punishment.
There is a limit for everythintg!
There is a logic behind this: enough is enough.
