Paying for exit permit

In the light of yesterday's new rule that you have to pay for an exit permit, does anyone know how you go about doing this - do you pay your work's external affairs department, or do you pay at the airport? If you have to pay at the airport and join the long queue I'll be pretty annoyed as I just got one of those eGate passes.

Would people rather pay income tax? Perhaps that would be cheaper *rolls eyes*

Some countries will charge you up to 150.00 dollars on exit fees for the stamp on your visa, don't complain about the price.
