Pet friendly apartments
I am in the process of locating to Qatar and will be bringing my dog wth me. I am on a budget and will be looking for a small furnished apartment and would like to look in the Souq Waqif area. Please can you point me in the right direction. Also is Qatari dog friendly and would I be able to walk her on the corniche and over Sheraton Park. Or a pet friendly hotel. Thanks.
I am living in a muslim country now so I understand how they feel about animals in general and I would rather you Khan30310702 not to post any remark if you cannot think of anything sensible to say. Mary Catherine thank you for your intake. Now please, can anyone give me advice on where to start looking for apartments, I am not looking expensive. And dogs are definitely not unclean, my dog gets showered every week in the hot weather, she is de-flead, de-liced and de-wormed once a month.
Dogs are not unclean, but they are regarded as a "tool". A dog has to serve a purpose (guarding, herding, etc.) There are certain steps to be taken to cleanse oneself but dogs are not forbidden. In my experience, those from the subcontinent are more likely to be afraid but that is most probably because of issues with disease and rabies that are not controlled very well in that part of the world (understandably, it's not a high priority in many areas).
IMHO I have had many people approach me and my dog in a friendly way, and those who give us a wide berth - same as happens in home country. I adjust myself and my dog's path to accommodate those who wish to interact and those who do not.
The corniche is posted as a non-dog area as is Sheraton Park. You may be able to do so, but don't be surprised if someone (police/security) tell you to move on. Even if it's a citizen, you don't want to have a confrontation. As for apartments in the area, it may depend on the landlord and on your dog. If it tends to be noisy, you'll have problems no matter where you live.
May be you can find a place for you and your friend in the zoo
In corniche there is no problem walking with u dog.Mmmm staying with a dog in a appartment i don't think it's a great idea.Much better if u look for a ground floor villa!
