There are really 2 distinct different types. There are Turtles and there ar tortoise.
Turtles like water and swim a lot. They need moisture and some sunlight. They eat mostly pellets and some veggies.
Tortoise like dry. and are land dwellers. They get their moisture from the veggies they predominantely eat. If you saw someone putting a "turtle" under water to revive it and make it "lively" it was probably a "land turtle" ie: tortoise. they also tendt to live longer that most humans.
what are the different types of turtles??? i don't get it .. i was recently in europe and my little sister had been bought some. They were put inside a plant and were given some lettuce every day. Apparently though, one day i saw them to have crawled outside and were in the heat and so put them under the tap to refresh them, but apparently that's dangerous; why's that??
I assume swimming ones would be more exciting than standing still, eating and then shitting and pissing on themselves ones that I experienced.
right. except for slider turtles you might want to use a slightly different tank. they'd stay in the water for most of the time but they need to get out at least a couple of times every day.
if i'm not mistaken people also usually recommend placing their tanks in areas with enough exposure to sunlight. apparently they could get depressed if left in dark areas for too long.
i hope you didnt get one of those slider turtles. their food REALLY stinks, and you'll end up changing their water at least 2 times a day if you dont want your house smelling of turtle poo.
I think we only fed them once a day, maybe two at the most. The most important thing I remember is washing your hands well after touching them because of salmonella. if they are the same turtles that my family had, you don't have to worry to much, they don't last long. :)
These are babies that I've been forced into buying by the kids and as with all our pets after the novelty wears off (one day) I'm stuck with feeding, care and cleanup.
I've seen the online resources. Separate eating location, basking light and area, UVA/UVB light.
How many times do you feed them (babies) and for how long at a time? They're not eating lettuce but they like the pellets when they're a bit mushy.

Can I ask where did you find a proper basking light for them?
I have the tank kinda split with an area they can climb on to and just bask. Above that I have a basking light... What we do for our kids.

I'm using a fish tank from the previous pet fixation that hit our home a couple of years ago. Filters, aquasafe, heater and all.
i hope you bought a decent-sized tank for them. these things tend to get huge pretty fast.
Yes they are sliders. Just found out they like Nando's chicken. One of them at least. The other one likes to play dead whenever I approach.
