Please advise
I have already mentioned this guy I am referring here regarding his problems with their employer who doesn't care about their welfare. He works as an back-hoe operator which doesn't have an aircon. In this kind of weather do you think you will last an hour operating a steely machinery which radiates back the heat more than the outside temperature! Now he's asking me to write for him a resignation letter giving one of the reasons I have mentioned here. In the Qatar Labor Law Article 51 which provides reasons an employee can terminate his service contract before its expiry date, and in section 4 which states, "If continuance with the work endangers the safety and health of the worker provided that the employer is aware of the danger and does not take the necessary steps to remove it". He already informed his employer and asked him to have it installed with an a/c due to the unbearable heat inside but he got only promises and nothing has been done. Man, does his employer wait until this guy fries under the heat? The thing is, is his employer in violation of this law? If so, can this guy terminate his work contract or submit his resignation letter with immediate effect or should there be a time frame? What if his employer doesn't accept his resignation, can he just stop working without risk of the police being brought in by his employer, and even sending this guy to jail for 'breach of contract'? I have this doubt and I hope I'm wrong. Where can he go for help? Human Rights or Labor Dept.? By the way, 2 days ago this guy was rushed to the Emergency unit of Hamad Hospital due to abdominal and back pains caused by UTI. This may be due to the extreme heat and the water he's taking may have high sodium content. The guy can't even afford a good mineral water because he's trying to scrimp on his low wages. He gets his free water from some house nearby their place. I don't want to sound overly dramatic nor trivialize this matter, but geez man we're talking here of a human being with a family back home who are all dependent on him. He's just like you and me but was just very unfortunate not to get a good company to work in. FYI, if you see their accommodation, yes, you'll surely say some animals have a much better place to stay. I just want to help this guy. Please advise sincerely.
a clear violation of human rights...there are 2 departments or shall i say offices of human rights, one is in madinat khalifa which is under Min. of Interior, and the other one is in salwa rd, near the darwish flyover...i think, its besides nandos chicken..better to report this to these offices...
