Pride and skyscrapers cometh before the fall

An “unhealthy correlation”
exists between the
construction of skyscrapers
and fi nancial crashes,
according to a new report from
Barclays Capital.
The construction of the Empire
State building in New York
in 1930, along with towers in
Kuala Lumpur in 1997 and Dubai
in 2010 have all been followed
by economic crises, the
report noted.
“Often the world’s tallest
buildings are simply the edifi ce
of a broader skyscraper building
boom, refl ecting a widespread
misallocation of capital
and an impending economic
correction,” it said.
“The completion of Petronas
Towers in Kuala Lumpur in
1997 was followed by a regionwide
economic crisis and the
collapse of Asian currencies,” it
added.

old news. 1999 news!

this "doom" theory has already a name: skyscraper index

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyscraper_Index

s_isale it's not superstition; it's just an observation: economic crisis happen shortly after high skyscrapers are build. it's not a science, or a cause effect scenario. it's just an observation.

Before proposing a project or a skyscraper, site analysis is observed so the location chosen would be the most feasible site for business not the other way around. The reason behind this could be overspending, wide spread corruption & greed, I think...

So did the NY Twins,...Now there might be an invisible threshold of permissible hight for Human Constructions, which might be cosmically dangerous to cross!
