And anyone who knows their hardcore/crossover will remember the Fearless Iranians from Hell from Texas. Great band that played off a base fear back in the 80's. I however doubt their parody-laden stage act would go down well in today's America hehe.
Taqwacore is a different beast to that though, and it's about time mainstream media at least passingly noticed it. And thankfully no lame emo rubbish here, just plain good old raucous hardcore punk from that scene, the way it was meant to be, spiced with Islamic SxE leanings. Good on them, bring 'em over here if you want to positively influence today's youth, instead of boring kids sh*tless with highbrow or antiquated crap they can't relate to (i.e. trad. poetry & music or worse, classical music)
