Qatar Postal Service

What is the postal service like in Qatar? Is it reliable? Should I redirect my mail to a Qatar address or is it better to use a UK address?

You can maintain your UK address and use service through this company. They will pick up your mail from a UK post office box and deliver it to you here in Doha. http://www.aramex.com/shopandship/

gave details of a company who provide a POBox arrangement for mail to be sent from UK direct.

I can't remember the details - maybe a search of QL would provide the answer.

I get a friend of mine to open any of my post which looks urgent and then she talks me through it on MSN.

If I think I need the hard copy of the letter she sends it on to me here - it takes about 2 weeks.

I don't think I'd rely on Royal Mail, to be honest. I've used their redirection services a lot within the UK and many times things haven't been forwarded. Luckily the person living at my old address sent stuff on - I complained to Royal Mail and got a book of a dozen first class stamps as compensation for them NOT redirecting something quite important! :D

I'm talking about regular post from the UK. I'm thinking of using the Royal Mail redirection service. Has anyone had any bad experience of this or can I rely on my post to reach me in Doha?

if its a registered letter and you have send it through post you can track it with them with the Id that they have given you.

Of course if the address you've mntioned is wrong it may take even a year to reach the exact location.

What are you sending?

How do you plan to get it here if it goes to UK first?

I get letters scanned to me by a friend.

The mail usually takes from 7 - 14 days, but I only have my regular Midget Gems (or Wine Gums, at a pinch) and other less important things sent to me.

Otherwise, it's scanning and e-mailing.
