QAWS :: December Shelter Update

Chelsea
By Chelsea

Temporary Shelter :: QAWS now has 30 temporary outdoor enclosures that can hold dogs until a new shelter is built. We are still desperately looking for any unwanted dog crates, dog kennels or wooden shipping crates that can be used as shelter by the dogs at night when it gets chilly! We're hoping to get a portacabin or 2 in the very near future that we can turn into cat accomodation before Christmas.

Animals for Rehoming :: We currently have over 40 dogs & puppies at the shelter for rehoming and a handful of cats & kittens. We also have 15 dogs and 12 cats in foster care that are all looking for new homes that we can arrange for potential adopters to go and meet. There's also "Flash", a big friendly white rabbit currently staying with me who is looking for a family. Please remember you must be over 18 to adopt an animal from us and we ask that the animal's neutering and vaccinations bill at the vet is covered as an adoption fee.

Christmas Cards :: This year QAWS has produced a stunning series of Christmas Cards featuring animals that have been rescued by QAWS. With photos by Lydia Shaw, they are dedicated to the animals lost in the fire and all the proceeds go directly into the shelter rebuild fund. They are being sold in packs of 10 for QR60 with each pack containing 10 different designs and are available from Qatar Veterinary Centre, The Veterinary Surgery and the DESS Christmas Fair on December 11th.

Volunteers :: Please come back!! Now we are full of animals again we are desperate for volunteers to help with walking dogs, bathing puppies and socialising kittens. We still have limited power and lighting and are finding it difficult to walk all the dogs before it gets dark so the more the merrier! Dog walking is from 7am-9am and again from 3.30pm until it gets too dark! First time volunteers are asked to come in the afternoon to meet one of us to be shown the ropes and are then welcome to come in the mornings and walk unsupervised.

Enquiries :: Anyone interested in adopting an animal, please drop down to the shelter to have a chat with one of us and see if we have a pet for you. We are open to the public for viewings 6 days a week (CLOSED WEDNESDAYS) between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. For advice and information please either email [email protected] or call 539-6074. For volunteer enquiries please email [email protected].

On behalf of all the QAWS staff and animals - a huge THANK YOU to all our volunteers, foster parents and supporters. And remember - a pet is for life and not just for Christmas!!

If you are interested in adopting an animal from us please visit the shelter one afternoon so we can have a chat and see if we have any suitable pets for you. If you are under 18 then please bring a parent that can complete the paperwork on your behalf.

Xena, due to there not being a post to bear reference to, your post looks rather inappropriate and frankly offensive.

As moderator maybe you should learn a little tact.
