QAWS :: We're moving forward!!!
Well having had a manic few days we're pleased to say that the first step to rebuilding QAWS is (almost) complete! The shelter itself has been completely cleared and it's almost like we were never there.
12 truckloads of concrete and burnt debris were taken away to the dump but we still have another 10 or so loads that need moving but at least it's all in a pile now ready to be loaded onto trucks! One more big push and we should be clear very soon...
We had our first meeting with the architect this morning and given him our design brief so watch this space... His ideas for the new shelter are amazing! I'm not sure whose more excited - us at the thought of a purpose built shelter or him at not having to design yet another office block!!!
We'll keep you all updated on how things go and fingers crossed there'll be more news soon. The website is being updated with more photos of the clearance and all the animals for rehoming within the next couple of days.
A HUGE thank you to everyone so far - especially Byrne's Rentals and HKH for donating machinery and drivers. The guys (hubby included) worked through the night for 2 days to clear as much as they could and they were all fantastic.
(Apologies for my technical incompetence - I would attach the photos into the post but I don't know how :D)
Friday 13th has always been a lucky day for me :)))
Is your fundraiser on Friday 13th?! Ooo you're brave hehe!

We were given: Two hands to hold. To legs to walk. Two eyes to see. Two ears to listen. But why only one heart? Because the other was given to someone else. For us to find.
Yes, I've met with Kim last week, she briefed me on the situation. On the other hand, I was happy to meet with 2 Qatari families offering to foster more than one pet. Please keep us posted.

I was there last week and due to the decision of the owner they are not allowed to take any more rescues/strays/non-profit animals in anymore. They are down to a minimum number now and can easily cope. What we are gonna do is fundraising to get some animals to the States in the next few weeks. I am organizing a fundraiser event with Kim which should happen on the second friday of next month. I will keep you all posted about it.
The Vet Surgery needs a lot of help. God bless them.

Do let us know if you need QLVG help anytime :-)
Sounds like things are progressing smoothly
... to see the progress. Congratulations to all involved who made / are making this possible :)))
Wow! I am so impressed. Didn't it burn down just a few weeks ago? The fundraising started off with such a bang-I was impressing my animal loving mom about you all last night-and already the site is cleared? This has all come about in just weeks-here in the US, people would still be arguing about who was at fault and the only action taken might be some lawsuits.
It will probably be rebuilt before I am finished unpacking at the rate you are going.
Amazing.
faster than we thought:-)
