QLSG Problems - suggestions here.

This is my own view as a member on the subject. (All rights reserved) :p
No one forced anyone to join, no one forced anyone to leave. Members who dont like certain people joining in the events can really go to hell. the group doesnt belong to anyone in particular and everyone is welcome. If you have any problem with a member sort it out urself or just ignore them at gatherings. We joined the group to make friends not enemies.
Doesnt matter who runs the show, but the show must go on. You are making efforts to get everyone together for which i feel you are being under appreciated, when Darude left no one of the entire whatever no. of members came forward to take his place, typical as everyone just wants to sit on their asses and then point fingers.
The problem: Members such as me are fed up with the same old activities. members like me dont really want to meet at the same old places (souq waqif) for sheesha/dinner/coffee.
Solution: You as the manager when you have time go out and search for other venues. It IS your responsibility to do so. As members it is also OUR responsibility to suggest places we like and recommend it to YOU so you can arrange to make reservations etc if needed.
The problem: Picking an ideal time or day. Some members cant make it some days some cant make it at a certain time.
solution: 4 weeks in a month, pick ONE day in each week to do ONE activity. Dinner/coffee/sheesha/movie/bowling/pool etc and keep it a fixed day. if mondays are fixed for coffee let everyone else adjust their schedules to that day, not YOU adjust to their needs. Unless its a special occasion falling on a specific day like the desert safari for eg.
The problem: Prices. Not everyone feel comfortable spending 100 to 200 bucks per meet up my friend. Take into consideration that there are many among us who are on a tight budget too.
Solution: Think of things to do where everyone contributes towards enjoyment. for eg if bowling costs 40 bucks a game 4 members can contribute 10 riyals and enjoy an evening of bowling. Go out and get us special deals from such places i'm sure if you make the effort to ask and we are a big group i'm sure there are places out there that will give us some good group discounts etc.
Somethings i can think of that can be fun.
1. Garage sales
Everyone has stuff to throw out or not wanted around the house. members dont think about making profit all the time, If you have a book to sell that your really not interested in keeping anymore even if you want to sell it keep a attractive price for it like 10 bucks or something along those lines. We can do that on a Friday.
2. How about renting movies and watching them in any members homes? doesnt cost you much just get chips/snacks and soft drinks at the most you'll be spending 10 bucks. Everyone can have fun.
3. Long drives. Petrol is cheaper than water, take advantage of the fact. After darude's meaningless drive over night which i enjoyed very much that has not happened again. Qatar has a lot to explore. Lets hope into our cars and just DRIVE! i want to have another late night long drive with beach side camp bbq..WORK ON IT KSA.
hmm ok i've been bitten by the long posts bug too but these are just my thoughts hope they are helpful. Other members feel free to add up.

When I first started QL, I used to work on a different job and used to have lot more free time on hands, which helped me to be more active, and make so so so many new friends...infact all the people on this thread, are my good friends, except for some who have taken dislike to me and dont talk to me anymore for something I am not even aware off...for them I'm just waiting for them to realize that some Forum Online is not as worth as a Frienship Offline...wake up guys OOOO you know whom I m talking about...!!!Anyways moving on, ever since I moved into my permanent job having this life, it is becoming more demanding at work and more busier with new projects coming this way...for which reason, I only manage to READ what is going on, rather than WRITE as frequently as I used to...but having said that, I still manage to post a line or two when I'm at my desk...I still enjoy reading the early morning posts where I see my dear friends, Loulsy, Khanan, Smoke, FS, Scarlett, NFH, MJ, Ashwin, Arein, Rizks, Alexa, Drac, DaRude and a few others get it on...(I used to love the morning kiss and talk with Darude that I used to have with Khanan making a Threesome :P LOL) but yea as time passes on, I'm just getting a touch busy...
But having said that people, I would also like to say that it is also the responsibility of the Individual Members to join in and have some fun on the various outings and not sit back home cos they DONT KNOW ME or dont feel right with me, I know I do have to increase my rapport with people...but on the other hand...people...its a Social gathering and you will meet everyone for the first time INCLUDING ME! So why reservations...? The other day, Alexa pointed out the Heat factor which is also true at the moment, UKENG pointed out not his type of events, if it is his, he'll be there, again valid point, not all can be a match to everyone, Smoke pointed out some valid points, again same thing could be monotonous, surely need a touch of a change, more like a Blend of Routine with New found Chaos...which will be worked on...
People, inspite of All this, it is still going to the wire where they say, a performance, an outcome successful, of any Event or a Team depends NOT ONLY with the Manager but also the People under THAT team and who turn up on THAT day to make it one BIG successful Event...
So guys, all that I have to say, is, whilst I plan and chalk out a formula to get this group back on track with some good excitement, how about each one of you also do take it upon you to find something new to put in here, and do try amidst all your busy schedules to make it to some events from time to time (Not every single one of them, cos I know it is not fair) but just from time- to - time people...to turn up not basing your outing on the criteria of New, Old, Superior, Inferior, Caste, Race, Sex, Religion, Ritual, etc etc...but Just coming out to have a good time, meet up with some old faces, talk to some NEW, and above all TO HAVE A GOOD TIME!
It is not everyday, that a Forum like QL wakes up and provides a little platform called QLSG which has grown quite big till today and has provided quite a few people with a good number of friends and some with even more than just friends...!!! So lets not WASH that away and lets make a CHANGE!
If anyone has taken any offence from this post, then I would only say, Look beyond Just the offence cos there is a lot of excitement coming your way...!!!

The reason I haven't put in my two cents worth (and NOT whining) is because I've done that before...helping set things up, that is. For the most part, I've been gone most of this spring and haven't been able to attend any of the QLSG outings. So...hence, I kept my mouth shut. WHEN have you EVER heard Alexa or myself whine about anything having to do with QLSG?
KSA is, from what I have observed on here and email, doing a bang up job with the SG. Perhaps I read more into your post than was meant, but geez dude...get a life and stop putting more work on KSA!! He did what no one else wanted to do, take over the group as manager.
Now that being said...you can go kiss a camel's behind, you little twit.
FS....I never had any problems with Smoke..but I do with this thread as he's gone and made more work for KSA in saying that he should find new things to do, get cheaper rates, ect...You know as well as I do how busy KSA is just with his job and life.

I dont see anything wrong in Smokes Suggestions.. Knowing Sarat well, I am sure he takes it in the right sense... I wonder why Alexa and Scarlet feel that Smoke is attacking Sarat...
Some people here got problems with some others and they want to make them look bad…… its not gonna work!!
KSA took over the Group during a bad time when many members left ...so its not his fault...one more reason Summer is usually less active period… when all are on vacation or most of us don’t want to do outdoor activities in this weather...again not Sarat's fault)
I do appreciate Darude’s efforts to make QLSG this big...KSA was/is not active as Da in this forum...so many people dunno him..Personal rapport with members is very important for a manager..which KSA has to work on...
With all our support and suggestions KSA can very well manage the group...
After all its not easy to please everyone... people from different parts of the world …..with different likes and dislikes…..not anyone fault!!

And this is exactly WHY i have left the group. Try to point out what is necessary to keep things alive and it seems like i'm the one doing the whining. I've posted the problems and solution that I FEEL was necessary and i'm the one whining. Alexa and Scarlett both of you are blowing this way out of proportion, instead of seeing the good of the post you rather catch the bull by the tail. I really dont care what you two think about this "attack on KSA" lol well he certainly doesnt seem to think so.

I'm a klutz on crutches so I put them in my closet. I actually took my hacksaw and cut my cast off since it was pressing on the break. I wrapped it well and now it is much better.

My only problem is babysitters and hubby jetsets alot otherwise I may be able to annoy even more people on QLSG! And no, a solution is not to get a maid....my job here is mother and housewife, managing fine and can't bring myself to outsource just yet.

Moving on, asking him to find us good deals is NOT a big deal as KSA himself phoned me up after i posted this telling me he was thinking about the same thing, doesnt matter who finds the deals, but my point being an effort wasnt made by either HIM nor US to do that. The point is out there for you all to see now.
Anyways KSA if your reading this man its upto you, you wanted suggestions there they are, or you can take Scarlett's advice and Que sera sera either way i aint bothered after today as i'm out of the group.

I DO have an issue with some of your comments..the manager of the QLSG doesn't HAVE time to scout out new ideas of places to go...he has a JOB and life also. If members are bored with things that he's scheduled, then THEY can suggest something else. Goes back to the old saying..."if you aren't part of the solution, then you are a part of the problem".
Telling KSA to find "deals" so that the social group can go cheaper, again is asking quite a bit above and beyond the norm. Just taking over the group is really intimidating...why don't YOU go find the deals and then bring them to KSA? Helping in such a way would be an enormous load off his shoulders.
Now...don't go off on me and say that I don't do that either, because I WAS part of the leadership of the SG when Da was leader...and just being a partial leader of the group was too much for me and my schedule..especially when folks were whining but not offering to help with the situations.
KSA...keep up the good work...those that want to go, will go, regardless of their schedule, finances, ect...Those that choose not to...won't. Those that choose not to attend functions due to personality conflicts with others, won't attend. Don't take it personally and just move on.

Good points, I agreed with Smokey & KSA (Balanced ideas), everybody has something or other activity to do, depend on their availability, affordability and more important is Interest.
To accept which activity one like to get involve into.
Suggest to have a brief poll on QL with different activities you guy suggested and watch members response....
Hope this will clarify QLer's preference and choice.

I will take you on a LONG DRIVE to Raslaffan or to Saudi border for cleaning... ;-)
So far only Inland sea and Boat trip to the island (With a tour Operator) were planned which I am sure all cannot afford that was why the turnout was so less.
I am sure something other than through the tour operators can be planned which will bring down the price to more affordable level.
