question about buying used car

has anyone out there bought a used car?

in canada you can get a history of the car from the government, and many people will take it to a mechanic that will look everything over and give you an assessment.

do they do that here? would the dealer do that? anyone know a good place to have this done?

looking at cars directly from seller.

i'm looking at cars 1-2 years old, so would the warranty be transferrable? i'm assuming yes but you never know.

If you are looking for service records, you could just ask the seller to provide the car service history. If he's been doing regular services with the agency directly then he should be able to provide you with all the details.

There are many mechanics on the Salwa road who do engine, tyre, axle, body, chassis and other finer checks that will give you a good idea about the car's state. I belive they charge around Qrs. 200 or something. Highly recommended if you are buying it directly for the seller

If you are not buying the car from certified used cars showroom such as Advantage or Oasis, then I think they do give guarantee for a year or two. You could also ask them for the car's maintenance/service history.

Hope that helps.
