Question for iPhone Users
I downloaded the new 3.0 update, which adds MMS to the iPhone. Under Settings-Messages, however, there is still no MMS button! I went to the Apple site and looked it up, and they say "if the local carrier doesn't support MMS, this button won't appear."
Well, I have a Qtel Sim card with a Shahry account which allows MMS, so I don't understand why it doesn't work. Before you email me, yes, I know QTel doesn't "support" the iPhone, but this is basic stuff. I'm just wondering if any other iPhone users will see something different.
US users aren't seeing it because AT&T doesn't yet allow it, but Qtel does, so we should be seeing it, right?
Thanks.
Oh, also, DON'T listen to these people who post on this board offering to "jailbreak" or unlock your iPhone for some ridiculous amount of money, like 150-200 QR. If you have a computer, you can download the software and do it yourself in 10 minutes. Those guys are ripping people off. (If you upgrade to iPhone 3.0, you need to wait for the new jailbreaking upgrade!) Stop giving these people your money for something so simple.
hi jdylan,
You can configure the button on an iphone 3g (it wont send) only 3gs has the ability to send mms. You can always send the message to an email address.
Thanks
Andy

for that settings... now i can receive and send MMS... and all the while i thought i cant... :)
The 16GB model was around DH3050, and people are using it directly in the Qtel network.
APN : mms.qtel
Username : mms
password : mms
MMSC : http://mmsr.qtelmms.qa
MMS Proxy : 10.23.8.3:8080
MMS max message size :(leave it blank)
MMS UA PROF URL :(leave it blank)
restart the iphone after entering these (do not forget)
these settings are working for me...
peace.
sets sold in Dubai are not locked to the carrier. no need for unlocking, can someone confirm.
If you are on OS3.0, you can go to Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network -> MMS.
The following information can be entered : APN, Username, Password, MMSC, MMS Proxy, MMS Max Message Size, MMS UA Prof URL.
The jailbreak is already out for 3.0, the unlock should be out in the next 48 hours.
hey Jdylan
I got the new update yesterday and tried to get the mms function working by sending "ALL" to 2072 which is what the qtel websites says to do for all the settings required to get mms and so on working, however u get a message back saying "sorry your phone is not capable to accept settings".
which means you have to find a way to input them manually; which can be done for the 3g and edge internet settings but not for mms, so the only solution is to wait for the jailbreak and use a hack program to send mms or change over to vodafone! (assuming they start soon)
