RIP Plane Victims

Not really. Not only do I not care if the victims “rest in peace” but it seems to me that they are, rather, resting in pieces!

I am of course talking about flight IX 812 from Dubai to Balglapour (or some other hell hole, they’re all the same) that recently crashed (click here)

I know I know. Mean, blah blah. The way I see it is as follows. The UAE is (about) 50% Indians, Something that I, and 90% of all other Emaratis see as a bad thing.

This plane, carrying Indians who live and work here, means that 160 indians that clog up the roads, cause accidents, fail code inspections at Indian restaurants, speak like this guy, and are a general drag on the security of the UAE, wont be coming back. That is a very GOOD thing!

I can only pray that this happens every week!

Sadly, we’ll probably have 160 new VISAs for 160 new Indians issued in 3 hours… And the authority in charge of this will flaunt that, as if it’s a good thing.

For those who do give a damn, and sadly see this as a sad thing, here is a full list of the flight’s passengers:

1. Rajkumar
2. Kumar Malalavajayapalamaniyanukrishnanananana
3. Babu Pinto
4. Parata
5. Masala Dosa

Repeat that list 32 times.

When all is said and done, they’re probably better off dead. I mean, look at the world, they arent missing anything special.

This blog post appeared on www.al-emarati.com. It is a truly viciously racist, cruel, vile and stupid piece of writing, which seems to get worse every time you read it. Whilst there is never any logic or sense to such ravings, what exactly does he think would happen to the Emirates if all the Indians left? Whilst decrying their ‘pernicious’ effects on his country he wholly seems to forget that without the hundreds of thousands of Indians, Philippinos etc the Emirates would stop working overnight.

If he wants to live a wholly Emirati life without foreigners in his country then he needs – quite literally – to go back to the desert-esque lifestyle as his grandfather experienced. I do not mean this in a mean, pejorative way but wholly literally: there are simply not enough Emiratis to run a fraction of their own services and industries, ergo, if he hates foreigners so much then he needs to eschew every trapping of modern life.

kbaisi, every country has their own internal problems. The direction in which Indian Economy is heading is definitely not one of the country's problems. I believe we have only stated that bit to counter the Emirati's racist hate statements.

If you want to point out the other problems, maybe we can make a separate thread to start pointing out the various problems in the different countries ?

@ gadarene are you just plain dumb or you have comprehension issues? I said my point was to show that argument is dumb and used that as an example, not to further the 'debate'.

And if you feel making threads about random racist posts is the way to go then by all means go ahead and see how far it gets you, I just pointed it out it's dumb in light of the real issues going on in India. I have never made a thread complaining about the ignorance/stupidity I have see on this forum, I address them directly in the thread or just ignore it, this does include comments from people such as yourself who is I might add extra sensitive on here about my comments, but has referred to Qatar as a "shit hole", so spare me the lecture on how my response to people insulting Qatar is the same as people starting a whole thread and debating the implications of a freaking random blog post.

@ legal pad, would you kindly repeat your post?...in english this time if you don't mind...gobbledygook or any other language isn't permitted in the main forum...

@ kbaisi, you provided an example by extending the argument & i extended it further or more like on a tangent...if it is in fact stupid to debate scenarios that will never happen, what does your "what if the GCC stopped selling oil to India?" statement make you mate? *wink*!

As for the points i raised,no offence taken & i'm not asking you to give them ANY weight but are you saying that ANY of the points i've raised DON'T hold true for India? let me be more precise mate, are you or your renowned economist friend saying that the vast differences in language & culture seen along the length & breadth of India, unlike ANY other nation on the planet DOES NOT in any way whatsoever affect the issues you brought up,be they internal racism,Hindu-Muslim tensions, different rules etc & make it so much more difficult to overcome those said problems?

You say India has a lot to overcome,i say look at how much it's overcome & how far it's come DESPITE all the above issues...is the glass half-full or half-empty is all it is mate,a matter of perspective, doesn't really require a PHD in economics, with all due respect to you & your economist friend...The Indian economy is growing super quick,China is the only other worthy contender in the region,we are head & shoulders above everyone else in the region, there's a reason it's called the Indian sub-continent mate, that's me calling the glass half-full,you can counter it by pointing out what's wrong with the Indian economy or areas where it has a long way to go & that would be you calling the glass half-empty.

So let me get this straight, what you're saying is that because India has all the problems you mentioned,Indians shouldn't react when someone insults India/Indians?

Let me put it differently,if my memory serves me right,Qataris make up just about 25% of the population,so a whopping 75% of the population are expats, would you not say being such a small minority in your own country is a problem? And yet despite that,if someone were to insult Qatar/Qataris,would you not react to it? Have you not reacted to it on this very forum?...

Same rules apply...i agree that the manner in which people have expressed themselves isn't right but to say any country/countrymen ought to focus on their internal problems in the face of this sort of blatant racism is a bit much bruv...

Once in a time, I did visit a Lebanese head shrink. He told me to visit any PHD doctor for the mind from India. Well, to my own surprise, I was driven more into my mental laughing madness, since I had to listen to all those questions with that funny accent..

What a waste of a paragraph, and I won't continue discussing such silly arguments of 'who needs who more'. My point was that nobody is doing anyone favors, not that the Gulf is doling out barrels as charity, some people on here made foolish comments and I provided an example of just how dumb such arguments are by extending the argument, and it can be further extended, but it's stupid to debate scenarios that will never happen, I wish more people would realize that.

As for what I said about the Indian economy, I studied for a year with a renowned American (originally Indian) economist who worked with the IMF for decades, and has published several books/journal articles based on his work/research on India's development/growth, his work is used in a lot of Indian universities, and he is the one who first introduced me to the issues I raised above, and I explored it in more depth. No offense, but unless you have an identical background to his I really can't give much weight to the points you raised as he is an expert in the field, and based on his work his general argument is that India has a lot to overcome, and could do so much faster by addressing what I mentioned above, I obviously did not elaborate as it a subject too deep for a forum like this. and I don't know why you interpret what I said as 'pointing fingers', I just said Indians should be focusing on improving their country. No need to get all sensitive on me brah.

@ kbaisi, valid points you mentioned but some you didn't,so if i may,the GCC isn't giving India energy as charity,India is paying for it,with cold hard cash...the same cold hard cash which then funds the lavish lifestyles that the citizens of the GCC enjoy...so in answer to your comparison,if GCC stops selling energy to India, they earn that many billion less & while i'm not sure of the exact figures,i think we can both agree that for a country of the size & population of India,it would be a significant amount of money,so the GCC supplies energy,India pays for it,that's that equation squared right there & as for the Indian workforce, they work, the GCC has the money, they pay them for that work, there's that equation squared there so let's be very clear here,NO ONE is doing ANYONE any favours & the fact remains, the billions the GCC has in assets is not going to come & build their countries for them, that requires a qualified workforce, something the GCC currently has far too little to make any significant difference...& with the Indian economy growing the way it is,i can assure you,it's becoming more & more of a favour that Indians are doing by leaving everything back home to come here to work in these hostile conditions,by hostile i mean the extreme climate for half the year & other things, but there's no need to get into that now...

So quite frankly mate,if you're trying to imply that the GCC is doing India any favours by supplying them energy,i beg to differ, give us one free barrel for every one we buy, then we'll talk favours...until then,as long as we're paying for it,we're equals on the table mate...

To address the internal racism issue you brought up,people often forget that in India unlike ANY OTHER country in the world,we have a population that speaks 18 OFFICIALLY recognized languages(unofficially God only knows how many.),comprises of the three biggest religions on the planet apart from MANY other religions, has varied culture, foods, traditions, etc ALL in one country, now my friend,if you would be so kind as to point out ONE other country on the planet with this kind of diversity that is dealing with that mix with no issues whatsoever then your points are valid,if not, then quite the contrary,India as a country & Indians as a people ought to be recognized for holding ALL this together under one nation,i'd like to see someone else replicate that successfully before pointing fingers...

Think about it mate, you're Qatari, speak arabic, eat the same food, you mentioned China, they're essentially the same, they speak different DIALECTS of essentially the SAME language, their food, culture all are variations on a similar Chinese theme, not so for India...There's more to that title of world's largest democracy than just the numbers mate, people understandably tend to forget that because when they think one country, they think one language, one religion, common culture etc, that's understandable because that's how it is in most countries around the world (& no immigrants don't count,so please don't bring up US or UK as an example, they have one language & common culture, the immigrants integrate into that while maintaining their own from their home countries,it's not the same.),however, not so in India,so really mate, considering the differences above,i'd say we're holding it together & not too badly,eh?...

Arien, I myself have a better offer and will make better savings if I decide to go back to India. It's just that Qatar has been my home for 25 years and I like the safety and peace it offers compared to back home. There are many of my friends who have left to greener pastures back in India or US, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, UK etc. Some prefer a better standard of living to a slightly higher pay offered here. Some others prefer a smaller peaceful community like me.

It's more of a matter of choice rather than not having a choice nowadays, unlike the past.

I agree with flor on the whole "what if indians weren't here" argument being kind of dumb, the argument could be extended to what if the GCC stopped selling oil to India? India is one of Asia's largest oil consumers and the GCC is its main supplier, one of the major impediments on India's economic growth is its reliance on so much foreign energy, which is continually growing and they are forced to accept it, so let's try to be rational when discussing such topics.

As for the comment above, I don't know why people on here want to give this guy's comment more attention than it deserves. Any time there is a news report on some casualty you will always find idiots making insanely ignorant comments, maybe they do believe such thoughts maybe they are trolling, either way who cares? I hope their relatives don't have to stumble upon such idiocy related to the death of their loved ones, and you guys aren't helping by spreading this guys post. Ignorant and racist people exist everywhere, this is an unarguable fact.

If there is any racism Indians should be concerned about it is the internal racism within India. Although India is developing it is lagging so badly behind China and it is a democracy and based on its resources/demographics this should not be the case, this is because of how the country is all divided up and different laws/consideration given to different groups at the expense of the whole states development. You have the whole caste system there, the hindu/muslim tensions, and so on, not to mention the inherent corruption in the political scene.

flor, you might not have noticed, but there are very few qualified and professional Indians coming to the middle east anymore. They are offered a better standard of living and pay package in a non discriminatory fashion in other countries and back in India. Indian economy is heading in the right direction and even when the global crisis hit, India was not affected as badly as most other countries.

I agree with you smoke. There are a few Arabs who have visited India and seen how the rich and upper class live in India and would have been put to shame.

The rest do not realize that the economy of India is getting so strong that the middle class are better of in India than going abroad. Just because they get to see a few uneducated poor workers coming here for better pastures they assume that all Indians are poor or their standard of living at home is worse off.

I say let these ill-informed few keep their opinions and appreciate the other well educated and well informed few.

Like Nic wrote, that is the mind flowing of a huge majority. If ten people think like that they might be wrong, a hundred..might still be wrong...a thousand? might not, what about 70 or 80 % of the non-indian population? I think their somewhat right.

Plus its not about the nation India, its not about its people scattering all over the world, its just that they're too many! They're all over!! They do clog the roads & cause accidents, heck, I had one infront of me going at 20 Kmh when everybody else was overtaking him. This guy was so gaddam slow that the people going around him were so frikkin fast that I just simply couldn't overtake him! At times it feels like they do it on purpose.

What about the job opportunities? They might not be bad employees (being nice here), but they agree with such less salary that they ruin everybody else's market. Just in case your thinking "why not go to some other company?"....THEY ARE TOO MANY!!! TOO MANY!!! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!! For cryin out loud there are so many JOKES about these things you still dont get it??

(My best friends have been indians, had more then one indian gf, so I'm not against them, but the rest of what I wrote is also true)
