sexy doctor's health thread

Like most people on this site Im new to Doha... stumbled upon this site thro google search and liked what i saw... wanted to know more about Doha and its people... started writing a few posts... initially some were repelled by my name... and i initially thot of changing my sign in name... later i thot lets be differnet even if i was notorious so be it...

In the last 2 weeks that i have been a member i made a few online friends and few who have acutely disliked my postings... and just last night a couple of ladies started me on this new idea... we were discussing dermatology when one lady suggested i write about a health topic daily and maybe this can start off a debate with other doctors joining in and the general public asking questions.....

I dont intend become an agony uncle/ or Dr Phil types.... am much younger and fun types... im just doing this to have fun and to make friends... Im sure there will be a few who will take offense to this also and vent their bile on me... but im ready and it takes all kinds to make Doha an interesting city.... so let people chat, ask questions, rant, curse, abuse.... at the end of it all lets have fun.....

As i mentioned earlier... Doha makes the lives of many expats happy and comfortable... so why not give back something in return to the city and its wonderful people....

Lets get started........

Why dont we start with skin related issues......

In my short stay here i have seen most people in Doha suffer from skin ailments....

Sun burns, hyperpigmentation, fungal skin diseases, excessive perspiration and bad odour... If any one has queries on this topic lets start a Qand A session.......

Have fun people... and stay healthy.............

Thanks Mohammad u have actually asked the first technical question here... for people who doubt me being a doc this answer shud clam them up....

Cortisone is steroid and its used to reduce inflammatory process anywhere in the body... however the flip side is it shud be used with caution under a physicians guidance... cos apart from several side effects it can ( on prolonged usage) compromise immunity, cause increase in body weight due to water retention and make you prone to other super added infections...

yes a combination therapy is better but better than a topical antibiotic try a topical anti fungal like nystatin...

foot fungus is rampant in hot humid conditions like middle east... prevention wud include usage of open airy sandals for people who sweat a lot in their feet and daily use of fresh dry socks for people who use closed tight shoes....

hope this helps....

LOL, God that "doctor on TV" quote has become a cliche nowadays!

sexydoctor,

I was wondering if Cortezone was the best treatment for foot fungus. I am currently combining it with a topical antibiotic.

Is that a good regiment? I mean the bacteria has retracted considerably since I applied treatment, but it took 2 months since I started treatment for it to get to this stage. I was wondering if this combo therapy slowed the healing.

Let me know, thanks

Mohammed

ooopss....

Too many questions in the few hours that i was offline...

lemme try and answer as much as I can...

Yes I am a doctor....a certified well trained medical practitioner... with good clinical skills and medical acumen...I am working for a top end medical centre in doha... as i said i dont wanna discuss my details anymore...

Secondly this is not a medical website which will give treatment for brain cancers... I am gonna discuss health related issues and i dont see any legal hassle in doing that... even if sumone were to follow the health related advice i give i wudnt be up against law... not even not in US not anywhere...

Having said this, what i started off is purely a medical/ health thread which will be discussing health related queries ... there will not be personal medical treatments... the same rationale is used by medical websites like webmd and mayoclinic online.... reader descretion is however advised...

I am not doing this becos of cheap popularity or to make money. i thot i wud do sumthing useful indstead of arguing about religion and terrorism and nightlife in doha... not that i am against those topics but for a change i thot lets discuss issues which might benefit sumone...

though im averse to discussing my personal life and details here, i dont mind queries on any issues under the sun... there was one query about skin diseases and venereology.... in the UK and several countries which follow the UK Sylabbi, like India, skin diseases and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are grouped under one topic called dermatology and venereology....

However in the US, they are considered different topics....

If there are questions on this topic too i shall try to answer.... if i am out of depth in any topic i will be honest and let you know that i dont know....

yet again let me clarify i am just trying to promote a healthy discussion on health and this is not an online clinic and as such nothing is against law.... no cause for concern here....

If people are still worried about discussing issues then simple.... dont discuss.....

Is it just me or would be people perhaps- be a little apprehensive about sharing their intimate health issues on a public board?

I mean I have a few concerns myself, but I am not inclined to share them with you all at the moment! lol

Are you a licensed medical physician? If so what are your qualifications. You are right when you say that you don't have to justify your qualifications on this forum. But you have described yourself as a doctor with your nickname and you want to discuss medical issues. I think we have a right to know whether you are a trained professional or an interested amateur.

well thats the reason we asked s.doc to have it clear with qatari....i dont think qatari will allow for a official health forum here if he doubted the credentials.

Certainly not picking a fight here, however if medical and health advise is being given over the internet and people follow it then yes credentials are somewhat important.

Would you go to someone in the street whom you did not know and follow their advice to play on the D ring at rush hour???

S. Doc nope not having a go at you but be very careful, if you are not who you say you are and people take your advice you are setting yourself up for a law case!!

We came we saw we were Qatarized

youdont have to prove your credentials to me here.

if you correspond with qatari and he decides on a health forum based on your advise.......well thats good enough. he wouldnt encourage it if he didnt feel comfortable about it.

i do understand your need for anonymity. you dont have to explain it and we all need it.

regarding remembering what you have mentioned earlier...well somethings just stay in the mind and i have posted in the same threads where you have posted or started. oh.....i do read everyones posts...so i do remember most of whats written.like you said you liked garden restaurant for veg food since you are a veggie.....something like that.

not a photographic memory but you did change your job title in the userprofile......can see it at a glance :-P

thanks for ur suggestions i am happy that you are interested in health issues...

about this being a regular feature and me contacting Qatari on this ... well lets see... Qatari and I have exchanged emails on a different issue.... Im impressed with his good work.

I am not very keen on discussing my credentials online and dont wanna give much details about myself cos you never know who wud misuse what....

I can only say I am employed by one of the biggest organisations in Qatar as a specialist in their medical centre so I dont need to prove my credentials here....

I was just interested in discussing health related issues and not very keen in discussing myself.... though Im surprised how han remembers every single detail of mine ... about my food habits and fitness regimen and travel history...han u have a photographic memory i shud say....

today i started with skin related issues... tomorrow i will for sure write a better - more detailed post about obesity and weight related issues....

good point pwb78.....

ofcourse its nothing like....pointing a finger at you s.doc.

but it would really be nice to have a health column itself so you dont have to keep feeding this thread to keep it alive.

why dont you just message qatari?

i agree...no time to keep internet grudges and people who do so are way silly and need to get a life.

talking about health the most common health issue here is weight. lets talk about weight.

i know you are quite a fitness guy.....so why not share your fitness routine with us.

you are a veggie so a diet plan will help too. moreover you have travelled far....so how have you managed your diet.

something realistic.

oh have you joined a club now....i remember you were looking for one.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for the "sexy" part but before we hire you on as QL team doctor, I think we need to know if you are really a medical doctor. :)

If you are interested in this being a regular feature, you should email Qatari your idea. He was looking for someone to cover health topics.

No derm. questions right now but thanks for the offer.

Thanks for getting me started on this thread...

Lemme tell you sumthing .... I personally have no issues being disliked or unpopular.... cos in life not all popular things are right and not all things that are right are popular...

I respect peoples personal opinions... we live in such a fast paced life we never have time to carry internet grudges for more than few minutes... If people have an issue with my sign in name so be it...

I wanted more spice to my health topics so i called it the sexy doctors thread.... if this is controversial its better more people will read it... ultimately i will be dealing with only health related queries on this thread if people take offence its okies...

LOL the first damper ....hee hee is the sexy doctor bit.

oh man you gotto market this thread. many dont like the fact that you call yourself sexy....and post nasty...acc to them.

anyway good going friend and i did notice that couple of members have taken an instant dislike to you and your opinions.

oh and let this not be a debate on health.....we all want good health...let this be a simple Q n A thread where we can ask simple health related question and doctor queries...which anyone having knowledge of can answer.

but you do need to keep the thread alive by posting health tips. i will help you if i come across something interesting.

hows that?
