No need for all of this I guess, if certain rules and facts that are not written in quran or been said by the prophet then it dosent relate to islam

Brit - They also say blacks are the superior race, and the mixed-race marriage and reproduction should be outlawed.

Elijah Muhammad believd that all people of colour, were descended from the ancient tribe of Shabazz that originatd from the holy city of Mkkah. Hence the link to Islam.

Their main focus is on the non-white population. They say, that they want to "raise the moral, social, and economic standing of non-whites."

From what i have read, they actualy promote reverse racism.

Malcom X distanced himself from Nation of Islam after visiting Mecca when he realised that Muslims where of all colours just not black

Thanks Platao.

From the brief reading I've done since this thread started I'd agree with Abu; they look like a group who've taken the established religion of Islam and twisted it to meet their own anti-white agenda.

Tallg: "Malcolm's assassins, Talmadge Hayer, Norman 3X Butler and Thomas 15X Johnson were convicted of first-degree murder in March 1966. The three men were all members of the Nation of Islam."

Thanks platao. Just out of interest, did they catch the 3 gunman, and did they prove they were NOI members?

"After Malcolm resigned his position in the Nation of Islam and renounced Elijah Muhammad, relations between the two had become increasingly volatile. FBI informants working undercover in the NOI warned officials that Malcolm had been marked for assassination. (One undercover officer had even been ordered to help plant a bomb in Malcolm's car).

After repeated attempts on his life, Malcolm rarely traveled anywhere without bodyguards. On February 14, 1965 the home where Malcolm, Betty and their four daughters lived in East Elmhurst, New York was firebombed. Luckily, the family escaped physical injury.

The legacy of "X"

One week later, however, Malcolm's enemies were successful in their ruthless attempt. At a speaking engagement in the Manhattan's Audubon Ballroom on February 21, 1965 three gunmen rushed Malcolm onstage. They shot him 15 times at close range. The 39-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival at New York's Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

QuoteFifteen hundred people attended Malcolm's funeral in Harlem on February 27, 1965 at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ (now Child's Memorial Temple Church of God in Christ). After the ceremony, friends took the shovels away from the waiting gravediggers and buried Malcolm themselves.

I don't think he'd even be recognized as by the Nation of Islam as a Muslim. I read that he expressed support but didn't "convert." It's kinda like the conversation between a chicken and a pig about a bacon and egg breakfast. The pig says to the chicken, "It's all right for you, they just require a donation. For me it's a real sacrifice."

That's what I'm trying to find out. I don't think Nation of Islam would be recognised as part of Islam by Muslims, so I don't think he'd become a Muslim.

I'm a little confused. The article says he attended a convention of the Nation of Islam, and "joined" them, that he praised Louis Farrakhan and made a $1,000 donation to the group. Does that mean he said "shehada" and is now a Muslim? I think it's not at all clear.

Reading the wiki entry I linked to above it would seem odd for them to have white members considering some of their beliefs (blacks are superior to whites, inter-race marriage/reproduction should be banned, etc), but I haven't read anything saying they don't.

Happy Happy, do you consider people converting to Nation of Islam as converting to Islam?

I'm just intrigued because I know how strict Islam is about what it believes, and Nation of Islam goes against some of Islam's basic principles.

I am not entirely sure Tallg, I have heard some say that Nation of Islam in the time of Malcolm X was much better than it is now.

But surely Muslims don't recognise Nation of Islam as part of their religion, do they?

If the Michael Jackson rumor of conversion (I am still unsure about that one) can be tolerated and muslims could embrace the freakshow pedophile I cant see why they would have issue with Snoop.

Righto Alexa, it is the content of his songs and arguably the music itself. Cat Stevens, now known as Yousef Islam, sings Islamic Nashheds but without music (other than a drum, which is permissable in Islam).

I doubt you will get a lot of muslims on here bashing the guy for converting. You may get that later based on his actions after his conversion.

Hapy: Even being a convert, and haven't read as much as i should about Islam, i would agree with the hardcore muslims, as far as i remember they were responsable for the death of Malcolm X. Even if i admire Mohamed Ali for what he stands.
