Motorcyclists all over the city is increasing everyday, and to the fact that these street monsters (even they are just with two-wheels) cause a huge effect on the focus of all drivers, zooming here and there...
I'm disgusted by the guys who show off on their bikes and go on one wheel. Their place should be in prison, their license should be suspended forever or they should join the circus.
As a careful and experienced motorcycle rider for the past 15 years, I have to say that when I moved to Doha 6 months ago, I was skeptical and scared to buy a motorcycle here, based on the observations of friends and mine too. However, I took the "risk" and bought a good city bike, light powerful enough and agile... simply because I couldn't take the traffic anymore.
Believe me the bike changed my life completely. Even though I never ecceed the speed limit, it feels so good to reach on time any destination I want. The duration of the trip is only based on the distance and not on the traffic conditions.
The weather here is good for motorcycles for more than 8 months per year, by excluding the summer of course.
Moreover, form a rider's point, the way people drive here isn't really that bad. (this is based on my personal riding experience in many world capitals)
I think that complaining all the time won't resolve Doha's traffic problems especially that the way the population is increasing is much much faster than any solution the government can come up with. We should look for solutions ourselves to make our lives easier.
Why any household in Rome and Naples have a city bike or a moped? I know of students, lawyers, doctors and even ministers who go to work in Rome on their mopeds.
Why are people in peace with this idea in Paris and London with much worse weather conditions?
Why people insist of buying flashy huge and unpractical cars in Doha? knowing that you won't ever win the competition of the most flashy car in the neighborhood.
Why do we have to be followers and get the Land Cruiser or Range Rover virus while all the world is looking for alternative cleaner solutions?
it's a nice idea in theory, but I don't know anywhere else that has special lanes dedicate to motorcyclists. Would be even harder to put into effect here in Doha as they streets and already too crowded and narrow.

i dont think it will work.. the bikers will still come in other lanes if they wanna zooooooom...
I want a motorcycle lane. It may not help all the time, but if we could see some project then we might get somwhere in this country.

I apologize for the length.

There is no need of a special lane. There is a great need of training programs for the drivers and over greater enforcement of current laws.
it won't work here in qatar...just look at how they drive their cars or motorcycles
We have them already... right up the middle of the cars :-)
mmmm ....
Add one lane for them???
& that wud mean one lane less for us......
