bravo, amnesia!

In Australia (Melbourne, anyway) there are speed cameras everywhere. The traffic was orderly and there were virtually no speeders crawling up the rear end of others - soooo nice to drive there.

Call me crazy, but I'd like to see speed cameras every 1/2 km or less on every single road. Far too many drivers here cannot be bothered to obey the law on their own. . ."act like a child, and you'll be treated like a child".

Everyone should "drive" an F-117A or a B-2 around there to get themselves undetected by radar. LOL

http://www.zercustoms.com/news/Nissan-GT-R-Drivability.html

"One of the most interesting tests the Nissan GT-R had to pass in the case of high-speed driving was to be able to cruise at 300 km/h (186.4 mph) and allow easy conversation."

Unlike the little econo-boxes people drive here, my car is built for high speed cruising. Every component in the vehicle is engineered so that it can cope with the stresses associated with high speed travel, including emergency braking from 300kph. Interesting thing to note is that the stopping distance I mentioned of my car from 200kph was on wet roads The GTR stops in a shorter distance in wet weather from that speed than an economy car in dry weather at half that speed. Chalk it up to the AWD system, some of the most advanced electronics ever seen in a road car and 15 inch brake rotors up front. Not to mention Japanese ingenuity which makes the GTR faster than any Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes or BMW made today :)

And unless you have driven the GTR and an economy car in the same day and same conditions, you have no say in the matter of how stable it is. I have and the GTR is by far more stable at terminal velocity because it was built with that in mind. At 200kph on open road, the passenger usually thinks its going half that. At 300kph, you can put a baby to sleep in the cabin.

That is the reason I sold my corvette. The GTR makes it look old-fashioned. It will sit all day at 300kph in 50 degree desert heat without breaking a sweat. It makes economy cars look fragile and dangerous.

Plus I never said I speed in public. Only when the road is empty and I can clearly see in the distance ahead. You are an idiot for assuming I would. And I have actually had the training to handle a car with five times the power of an economy car, from Miller motorsports park in Tooele, Utah. I know what this car is capable of and trust me, you wouldnt be able to even begin to comprehend the capabilities of the GTR.

Seth990, I hope you are just trying to wind people up. If you honestly believe your car is more stable at 200kmh, you are completely retarded. It is not a question of how smooth your car rides. You are not driving on a test track. When something unexpected happens, your reaction time is much less and your chance of getting into an accident increases exponentially. Sad thing is, it is not just the people causing the accidents that get killed. Innocent, responsible, law abiding drivers get caught in them as well. And if you think Qatar roads are the same as the Autobahn, you have clearly never been. They are well built, maintained and engineered to minimize dangerous conditions. Qatar roads have none of those things!

in germany, the drivers are cautious. they take care of their surrounding cars/pedestrian/road. i was amazed how calm they r.

accidents aARE caused by speed, AND drivers.

A golden thumb rule for everyone that gets nervous driving here, and thinks drivers around them are going fast...DON'T USE THE FAST LANE (LEFT LANE)...it's not for you. The goverment put all these roundabout traffic lights for you. We are comfurtable with the roundabouts here, and we find them much easier and faster to go threw than traffic lights, Which only forcess us to stop, even when there is no need to.

And for everyone that tries to save a couple of minutes by passing threw the service road parking lots (Cornish). YOU ARE STEELING OTHERS TURN. I will see you in hell.

"Also The speed limits are too low, the road between abu hamour to freej nassar is wide, straight, and not crowded at night at all, yet the speed limit is set laughably low at 80kph." [Quoted]

I exactly agree with you dude...that road looks like it can handle 100 - 200 Kms/hr speeds easily...and also the traffic along that road is comparatively very low...

And yet and yet, the speed limit is 80 Km/hr... I really dont understand the logic there...Sometimes while in a hurry, i feel like hitting on the gas pedal but who knows when the next flash will stike..So i resist my temptation and continue at 80 :)

I don't whether or not they're operational. They are situated such that they would snap a photo of the rear of the car.

The photo above was taken from the opposite lanes, so the camera would indeed photograph the rear of a speeding car.

It looked like a speed camera to me. . .as I recall it had two parts to it just like the normal "on a pole" cameras & detectors. The parts were smaller, but looked the same - even had the "light hood" on the camera.

Parts of the autobahn in Germany have no speed limits but still have some of the lowest accident rates in the world, while Qatar with all its vast wealth and minuscule road system cant manage to control traffic accidents without having to resort to such lame methods as unmarked/mobile traffic cameras.

If they really want to fix the problem they will make sure that there is proper drivers training instead of the joke of a driving test, and strict vehicle inspections to make sure that only people who know how to properly handle a vehicle are allowed on the roads.

Plus its a shame they have all this money but cant make proper roads.

Also The speed limits are too low, the road between abu hamour to freej nassar is wide, straight, and not crowded at night at all, yet the speed limit is set laughably low at 80kph.

My new car is able to achieve speeds in excess of 300kph and is more stable at 200kph than most economy cars are at half that speed. Not to mention from 200kph, my car stops in a shorter distance than a economy car does from 100kph. Why should the 80kph limit apply to me (especially at night when there is no one on the wide open road but me)?

No point arguing though. its not like these radars cant pick anything faster than 270kph anyway :)

Are they operational and are you sure they are speed cameras as I saw them as I approached the underpass and thought the authorities aren't allowed to film the front of the car.

It's on the Al Luqta bridge. There's one on each side of the bridge that crosses Al Markhiya / Al Beday - not sure what it's called at that point.

I noticed them a couple of days ago.

We shouldn't need QatarLiving to help us find the cameras, they should all be sign posted. Or at least that's what the government would do if they actually wanted to reduce accidents, instead of making money
