 Yet another surprise for me.....

I was amazed by the street traffic last night with so many people honking all over the streets of Doha. I taught that something is really wrong.  I became so curious about it & checked with someone over here as to what had happened.

Well, Egypt won over the Africans in a football match so they all are honking, was the answer..... I was like... Whatt??? Hmmm... That was something strange for me....

How does the honking idea of celebration sound to u??

Yes Congratulations to them but what disturbed me, is how erratically they were driving and the POLICE DID NOTHING.. just sat in their Cars and watched... on more than one occasion last night I was nearly hit... I watched various crazy people hanging out of cars etc etc,,, its good to celebrate and have a good time but consider other people!!!

i think they honk their horns for everything i've noticed they do it when someone's getting married too, even when they win matches here in Doha. Honking goes back to the time honks were first invented, a man would get into his car and if he was happy he would honk his horn to let the world know that he is happy..this tradition was passed down from father to son over the years. :)

we do honking celebration likewise in the Philippines specially during New Year's eve...so this way of celebration is not new to me..

but here, not unless there will be no damage cause, that would be acceptable and i believe corniche is a public place where all sorts of celebration and festivities has been done before...

corniche was blocked becoz of this... they were celebrating.. as long as their is no third party damage, it is a nice way of celebrating!

I guess its the only way of publicly celebrating in this country!
