For those about to rock, we salute you!
By live_and_legendary •
Hello friends,
How about a head count on the number of members who are also crazy about rock?
I'm surely one of them and am particularly interested in Classic Rock.
My favourite bands are Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam and Pink Floyd.
My range includes the like of GNR, Soundgarden, Nirvana, The Foo Fighters,.....the list goes on and on.
And of course, as the name of this forum suggests, AC/DC absolutely rocks!
good afternoon to all.
that really cute esalvo.

So esalvo76, when are you firing your first salvo.
Mademoiselle =) not married yet and never been!
Cheers!
"Life can only be understood looking behind but can only be lived looking ahead"
No, no, no. Bang your heads, guys.
We're only back ups dancers to e46.
Dancing like this:
to the right, to the right 1-2 steps & to the left to the left 1-2 steps, bend forward then backward then turn to the right and continue same steps. Get me? he heee :)))))
Btw, I didn't knew esalvo is a madam?
what are we gonna be dancing while e46 tries with the singing.
for this place, it gonna be belly dancy, then its gonna be a cross between arabian nights with head banging.
e46, i think at anytime we can have a ready audience and band with the kids.any family with kids, are a band by themselves.
no need for additions.
numb numb numb.
apple, you comment on the blood sugar and diabetics had me giggling.
hi esalvo....how you doing?
esalvo is the another lady here.

Between 1982 - 1988, some of the black album too.
The Four Horsemen - Master Of Puppets - Hit The Lights ...
The rest comes after :)
Your picture code isn't working.
Your musical taste is though!
Unforgiven II, Sad but True, Enter Sandman..
Yes, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden too...
Cheers!
"Life can only be understood looking behind but can only be lived looking ahead"
Black Sabbath? Are you kidding!
Check the thread for various mentions of them.
Kaizer Soze, on a Blackie Lawless streak, huh! I don't think it'd go down too well with the Girlschool part of the group.
Anyone likes Black Sabbath!
"Stormtroopers of Doha" anyone? The original SOD, crap band but a great name.
Or how about W.A.S.P?- "We Are Sexual Perverts" - maybe not :-/
Great stuff, Mez.
So you saw Bonzo bang the hell out of the drums!
You're quite lucky. Yes were a great band.
but thought I'd just like to mention that I saw Led Zeppelin live in London in the 70s - played for three and a half hours, no support. I was deaf for a week!! A half hour drum solo did take up some time so the others could go off for a beer!!
Also saw Queen live in Hyde Park in a free concert.
Plus Nirvana in Oregon in January 1994.
How lucky am I????
Actually, not a huge fan of the really heavy head banging rock - always a touch of hippie in me so leant towards Pink Floyd, Yes, SAAB. Huge range of tastes though and LOVE dance music too - Chemical Brothers, Faithless, FatBoy Slim, etc.
You know that Queen are the only rock band officially sanctioned in Iran. And Freddie Mercury's real name is Farrokh Bulsara.
Queen sure could rock.
Yeah, time to hit the sack. Back in Black. Awesome. A moment in time.
Let me know what you think of the rock group on QL idea too. Hope the guys come in soon from wherever they are.
Mom has her own Rock stuff too. Been working on her.
Later, Apple.
:)
I was thinking to invite cygnet_chay, she is a good singer vocalist. Let me PM her now she maybe interested to join us.
I'm not good in singing either but I love listening music kinda Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart type of voice and dont forget me as a diehard fan of the late :(Queen and GNR...during my uni days!
meantime, wish you good night and the headbanging kids & mom:D
Yes, Apple, you two have seen the light and know what it's all about.
We'll see how this goes. I don't know about the singing bit, unless the liquids kick in. Brian Johnson sounds like Pavarotti compared to me.
No dancers. You have to be like Girlschool.
I noticed only me & Han19 are female members here?
Hmmm, You can be the lead singer vocalist buddy? me & Han19 back up dancers:D
well, lets wait for couple of days more, i bet more members would join us.
Apple, I PM'ed everyone and kaizer and kiwi responded. No one else.
So I'm worried that if I arrange a headbangers' get-together I'll be left headbanging with my kids.
Right now I'll bet that if I arrange a get-together for the tech group I'll get more interest.
lol e46...
seriously, where are the others for voting? hmm let's see tomorrow.
king ed,kaizer,digital,greeker,darude,legendary, Time to voteeee!
I can't believe it, we've actually got another vote!
Movement at last.
CNiD, hmmm. That's quite a mouthful.
Oh dear! my brain is numb nowadays, thinking "who is jeremie"?
Anyways, "comfortably numb in Doha" is fine w/ me.
The others like "Blood,Sugar,Sex,Doha" sounds weird to me:D, we can recommend it to Diabetic society group instead?
What about "Qatar Immigrants"? maybe our dear Qatari wants to join the group? so we sounds rascist?
"Bad Doha Finger"? eeeerrr!
-the rest no comments:))
my vote for numb in doha
serioulsy i am numb as the weekend approaches.

Come and vote on a group name guys (and gals)....plenty of suggestions above.
How about "No rest till Doha" ?
I Like "COMFORTABLY NUMB IN DOHA"
i can only enjoy, you guys are the pros.....so give it a go.
where's apple?
happy heart
DRIVE SAFE,someone is waiting for you at home
Unless there are more responses this is going nowhere.
Hi there e46M3,
Sorry for the delay....
As sad as it seems my lack of imagination sent me googling onto the Rockstar Name Generator. If you put in Doha City it comes out with "Hell Pootle" As great as that seems, I just don't think I could be known as a Pootler.
What about instead:
Comfortably Numb in Doha
Qatar Immigrants (Song)
Blood, Sugar, Sex, Doha
BadDohaFinger
Doha Follies and the Infinite Sadness
Back in Black
Well, just a couple of (yup, pretty poor, I know...) suggestions. Someone out there must be able to do better...
http://www.liveearth.msn.com./spinaltap
Black Sabbath, so heavy and dark.
Mob Rules was the first album I bought with my own money.
Headless Cross
Look through the people, and on through the mist
to the hill of the headless cross
Where all witches meet, on a night such as this
and the power of darkness is host
They come face to face, eye to eye, soul to soul
with and Angel that fell from the sky
Borne on the air, the screams and the wails
of the masses appointed to die
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross
From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
cut the crucifix half to the ground
There's been no escape from the power of Satan
on a nation so brave and so proud
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross
How do you feel, when the locks refuse the key
and the master is calling your name
Does the luck of the charm, really keep you from harm?
does the talisman protect you from pain?
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross
From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
cut the crucifix half to the ground
There's no escaping the power of Satan
on a nation so brave and so proud
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture, oh no, oh
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross
At the Headless Cross, oh, at the Headless Cross
Where will you run to?
At the Headless Cross
Look, to the Headless Cross.

Headless Cross by Black Sabbath
I dont know how i 4got this one
Thanks for your input. Awaiting the others'.
"Appetite for Dohastruction" or "Symphony of Dohastruction"
"Dazed & Confused"
"The Wild & the Young"
"Mr Crowley's Crue"
"Doha & Def"
"Doha Rock City"
Most of the above are unashamedly derived from some of rock's best tracks....any grab your fancy? or any better alternatives are welcome.
Guys let's have a final vote on the group name before I submit it to Qatari for approval.
It has to have an all-encompassing Rock moniker that will include classic rock as well as the heavy stuff we like.
Very funny Angus Young interview
Latest addition to the collection, autographed FTAR.
have alwasy been around the venues or transiting when the concerts have taken place and always always regretted not beent here.
missed scorp and many others.
ita always nice when spouses share the similar passions in stuff such as music, movies, outdoors, travels.
happy heart
DRIVE SAFE,someone is waiting for you at home
And its number is...
han19, it's nice to have a member of the opposite gender with an appreciation for one of the finer things in life. Were you at the Scorps' gig last year?
I was transferring songs to my wife's Nano and she said she wanted Alexander the Great. I told her it was Maiden and she said "I know, I like it".
Ever since I've looked at her in a different way.
ok all this talk about rock music.....
got very excited about music and all, dso decided to just dance yesterday as a part of my workout...been 2 months since i did my workout.
well...today part of my body is hurting that i didnt know existed.
where did all those sore muscles come from?
i really need to get fit if we decide to headbang.
cheers guys.........you really know a lot about rock music....tons of info for me.i only go by what sounds nice to me.
enjoy the weekend.
group name ....i like beast of the middle east....hee hee hee
happy heart
DRIVE SAFE,someone is waiting for you at home
Classic early Queen.
The "Beast from the Middle East" idea is a derivation of the Dokken live album "Beast from the East" cataloging their concerts in Japan, so wholly apt.
Sounds pretty good for a name to me but Im sure could be misinterpreted! Great to see some likeminded metal heads in Doha. Count me in, would love to meet up for some great rock.
A big fan of a wide range of rock, the classics are always good, Led Zep, Deep Purple (Ian Gillan still one of the best vocalists around and then followed up with Coverdale!) early Queen, Cream, Hendrix all the usual suspects. Some 90's music - Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins were great and nowadays Queens of the Stoneage, Automatics and Tool still carrying on.
Let me know when the club starts up. Need to order my neck brace for the day after the headbanging....
Actually the Malmsteen suggestion was the joker in the pack. I never liked him - pompous, over-rated, and although an excellent technician, didn't write many good songs at all. I prefer guitarists such as Steve Vai and Jake Lee personally. Even Joe Satriani was a bit too 'way out' for me.....
Anyway I digress. Classic Rock tracks - "Child in Time", "Dream On", "Bringin' on the Heartbreak", "Holiday" - each on a 24 carat nugget!
Impressive list. Let's vote on that too.
I'll pass on Yngwie. I went to a concert once, he was opening for someone, not sure if it was Maiden or AC/DC, and we were hanging out by the service/band entrance ramp waiting to get autographs. In the time-honored rock tradition a limo pulls up, out comes Yngwie flanked by 2 groupies who didn't look too friend from the model in the You Shook Me All Night Long video.
5 minutes later his band arrives... In a cab. I kid you not.
And he barely glanced at us.
I didn't waste anytime or money on him afterwards.
Guys, on a different note what's your favorite epic in the Stairway to Heaven/Free Bird grain?
I like Blackfoot's Highway Song.
I remember watching this show on tv once, call 'They came from the 80's', about 80'srock bands...
quite nostalgic actually. Those were the days, long hair and tight faded blue jeans
saw a lot of rock concert in the 80/90's back when i was in the states. Dev Leppard,Metallica,GnR, Scorpions... they really rocks
I shook hand with Klaus Meine once after a show in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia... huhu
The Ultimate Din?
Doha Metalheads?
The Doha Yngwie Malmsteen Appreciation Society?
Beast from the "Middle" East?
Any of the above grab you....?
Anyone's got any ideas about a name for this 'Headbanger's Club'?
Anyone's got any ideas about a name for this 'Headbanger's Club'?
Anyone's got any ideas about a name for this 'Headbanger's Club'?
Anyone's got any ideas about a name for this 'Headbanger's Club'?
All right, then and now, mykstokes!
Mentioning Paul Rodgers reminded me of Bad Company.
Classic Rock also rocks!
Just to avoid confusion, I claim to be the oldest teenager in town. Around 1969 I was working in a music shop in Liverpool, when one of the young guys came in (I was a mature 20 year old)and told us all that he had seen this incredible band last night at Renshaw Hall called Roxy Music......WHO???
On another day, on walking into the guitar dept, I asked one of the youngsters why he din't say hello to Cat Stevens who was trying out a guitar.
I was at Liverpool Stadium watching Free who were at No 1 with All Right Now, when Paul Rogers opened the show by telling us that Hendrix had just died.
There've been good times.....
Oh yeah the Sound of Music, one helluva rockin' movie. But I prefer This Is Spinal Tap. "This one goes to 11".
Ok, I'm going to start preparing for a Headbangers' evening.
If someone wants to start a group go for it.
greeker...where did 'sound of music' come in this headbangers equation?
oh yah...its a lovely movie.
i like your green man.
headbangers count....count me in and apple too.
happy heart
DRIVE SAFE,someone is waiting for you at home
Count me in....
Isn't Sound of Music such an awesome Rockin movie?
:)
Let's have a vote on starting the Headbangers Club.
so this is where e46 is beating me at my points...LOL....
actually i love music thats loud, rocking and mesmerising....trance puts in a sedated state and rock gives a high.
love both kinds of music and ofcourse club mixes.
the thing about love songs and romantic songs...they bore me.....but there are a few favourites among them.
if i had a choice to buy music,,,it would be rock, trance, not blues, jazz or even slow rock.
happy heart
DRIVE SAFE,someone is waiting for you at home
has to disband his band in 2002 because he could not feel his left hand anymore with all the injections that he was using. They released a new album a few days ago, United Abominations [2007], it is a good one but nothing like the old days ..
This Is Spinal Tap.
This is a movie that no red-blooded rocker should be without.
Yeah I know him well. I used to have Peace Sells but it wondered away during one of my many moves never to appear again.
He used to be badly addicted to heroin. Supposedly reformed now.
I don't know if someone knows this guy, but he was one of Metallica's first members [before Krick Hammet]. He left after that to form a new band called Megadeth, he proved to the guys that let him down that he can go alone.
No problems with the site on my end but if Q-Tel get a whiff of it it's going to be blacklisted I guarantee that.
Turbo lover is a bit poppish for Priest, that's why they went back to the raw and hard style after Turbo.
Robert Cray is good.
ZZ Top of course, Jason and the Scorchers, George Thorogood and the Destroyers (awesome), Tesla, Georgie Satellites, and on a softer note Robert Cray.
I 4got to mention JP(Judas Priest) "Ram it down" and "Turbo lover" are must have for all rock lovers
and e46M3
its a clean site .. nothing wrong with it .. just ignore the ads
I was thinking that these guys belong to the Pop section, ... at least they put them into something close to the truth ... If these guys were not a Heavy Metal band, .... then who else was?
What a shame .. Wrong classification too.
dp
I went to Virgin a couple of days ago and asked this guy who works there, where are the Led Zeppelin CDs? So he says who?
Led Zeppelin.
Goes to the PC, can you spell it?
I can. el ee dee space...
They have Led Zeppelin in the Alternative Rock section.
This Town knows how to rock , .. :)
Listen to Rosalie on the Live and Dangerous album. Cold Sweat is on Life Live.
We forgot Saxon, didn't we?
I got all of their albums and will look for these songs to listen to them.
Has Q-Tel seen that site? I doubt it otherwise we wouldn't be looking at it.
A black Irishman playing awesome rock. His bass licks were mean! Thin Lizzy were something. Heard Rosalie live?
And if you like it heavy and fast Cold Sweat is pretty good.
Thin Lizzy, .. how did I forget these guys. I came to know about them when I heard Metallica singing 'Whiskey In The Jar' :)
Welcome back lady Good evening.
[img_assist|nid=13339|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=180|height=180]
Phil Lynott died over 21 years ago but none of us mentioned Thin Lizzy although I'm sure most of us know them.
So here's to Phil, RIP.
A garage band. Good idea, but we need a proper garage.
Let's see who's into what. Headbanging club or a garage band.
My 10-year-old is just starting to play Smoke on the Water. Really happy to see him interested in the guitar.
Hawkwind. That's good stuff.
Han19, you know there's blues rock. It doesn't have to be the put you to sleep type. Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan spring to mind. Actually AC/DC's rock is heavily influenced by the blues.
Thank mate I will get them and have a listen.
Start that club.
Have you got a garage?
My son [9 years old] first music favourite was Micheal Jackson, but we'll forgive him that he was only 5.
His second one was Hawkwind, GO ED.
Right now he is into Trivium.
I have taken him to see them twice.
Proper little rocker.
Metallica - Motorhead - Judias Priest - Iron Maiden - Nirvana - Deep Purple - Rainbow - Van Helen
Simply British Steels Rocks ....
On a more serious note in Dubai some of the more sleazy hotels actually have very good filipino metal cover bands - especially at the Seaview hotel, if anyone knows it.....They are not perfect on everything from Sweet Child O Mine to Another brick in the Wall..
Why is there nothing similar here in Doha - it would be brilliant.
From today Kaizer Soze will vanish, just like that.....*
and perhaps re-emerge as Ritchie Blackmore's used plectrum!
:-)
lol, han19 you made me laugh w/ ur comment, he hee
no probs, Brufen would help :)
I go for Slow Rock music...
Good idea for the club, let's create a group too "The Rockers"
sure apple...but e46,i hate the blues.....any slow music...i dont enjoy it.
i dont mind a headbangers union.....what a sore neck i will suffer?
it used to be crazy the uni days going headbanging....wonder how it will be now?
happy heart
DRIVE SAFE,someone is waiting for you at home
Queen...does anyone have their album futuring the song "Love me like there's no tomorrow"?
Han19, yep.. reminds me of my uni-days :)
Guys, we should start a headbangers' club!
I was beginning to feel abandoned in Qatar.
What people don't understand about rock music is that it lasts and lasts. I have this awesome clip of Deep Purple playing Smoke on the Water live and the band is old and so are many of the fans. It's great to see the fans grow old with the band.
I used to be told "you'll outgrow it" but now it's ingrained into my soul. And my kids love it too.
I love the blues too. Clapton matures like a good wine.
By the way, both Clapton and Angus have a Myspace page!
Whitesnake - another absolute classic
Very lucky I know.....over 100 concerts in total.
Highlights, Queen at live aid, Metallica at Hammy O, Maiden at Monsters of Rock (Donnington) and Deep Purple (Mk2) reformed at Knebworth, as well as ACDC several times at Wembley, GNR at Wembley...
On that note, don't get too excited about their new album - Axl Rose isn't the same without Slash, Izzy and the other original guys.
I’ve been in to rock music ever since.... pearl jam > foo fighters > silverchair > R.A.T.M. (rage …) Red hot chilli peppers are among the top of my list.. Judas priest! Iron maiden. Black Sabbath kind’a bit heavy for me.. though I love metallica esp.. their title to whom the bell tolls wahpak!!!.. as for axl have you guys seen him lately.. I’ve seen him in dreadlocks.. hahah just imagaine axl on those tight shorts over a Jamaican do!!! …
Anyway for those of you who love Black Sabbath here’s our local version of war pigs Covered by wolfgang!!! Check out how we rock back home!!!!
thanks e46...forgot judas priest and scorpions.
you are lucky to have gotten the chance to watch the concerts...wowie.
apple.....i like november rain....the last bit.
happy heart
DRIVE SAFE,someone is waiting for you at home
It's an absolute firecracker. So powerful. Die Young is another gem on H&H. Some people discount Dio's time with Sabbath But I love the stuff he did with them. Voodoo is also another favorite.
Let's rock QL...
chinese democracy? never heard! but Axl Rose...rocks!
November Rain(still love it!), Bad Apple!, patience, dont ya cry, sweet child o'mine....
KAiser Soze,
You are one lucky B!&&*^*!
You have made my day.
You are the only other person I know who not only knows, but likes Neon Knights.
Gonna play that tonight, to celebrate Liverpools victory.
I'm not sure if all you people have heard about 'Chinese Democracy'.
Yup! The enigmatic GNR album that Axl has been working on for the past 7 odd years and is yet to be released.
Last I heard they had finished recording and begun mixing (phew!).
Any updates anyone?
Welcome aboard, han19.
I've seen AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Molly Hatchet and the Scorpions in concert, mostly in the US.

Though i prefer slow rock music...:D
Nice to see some Rock fans in Qatar!!!
I love Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, GNR, Queen, Metallica, Nirvana, and many more....
One thing about good old Rock music is that they never die..they live on 'til today...unlike most new age songs/bands where today we hear the band name and tomorrow they dissapear to GKW (God Knows Where)!
Rock On!
I think she may have been talkin' to me!
I mean when Deep Purple wrote 'Smoke on the Water' dinosoars still ruled the earth, right?
I'm not THAT old!

I am with you 100% on the Young brothers and their High Voltage colleagues!
Hard rock through and through: Deep Purple, Rainbow, Dio, AC/DC, Maiden, Leppard, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Scorpions, GNR, Motley Crue, Metallica.....to name but a few.
On the softer side: Queen, Bon Jovi, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Foreigner
And I've been lucky enough to see most of these bands live - AWESOME!
have to add Ozzy and Iron Maiden here .. two of my favorites
System of a Down are flavour of the month with me.
But heavy is better for me.
From Hawkwind to Marilyn Manson [sure I spelt that wrong].
mmmm rock....like all of the above as well as The Cure, The Doors, Sonic Youth, Radiohead etc etc....
