TOO COLD!

Hi i'm new to qatar- living. hey has anyone wondered why its so damn cold at this time of the year like never before. i mean sure winter is expected at this time but what abt the rains, we used to have occasional showers or mayb 1 or 2 heavy downpours.the rains this year are a littel too frequent if u ask me.
and why is it so hard to get a driver's license here? i hear all this chitchat about how hard the tests are and how very few chances u have to pass. if anyone's got their license recently, tell me how hard it was and whats in store for me...

6 celcius is about 40 farenheit. Yep...I dont think I wil miss Irish winters....although Qatar summers sound a litle daunting. I guess you can't have everything.

What you class as cold?

Anything that is lower than 70 or 110 degrees for DOHA.

For November and December, the average, low temperature, that I register in my weather mate station was, so far during night hours 59-62 degrees, but the wind chill factor made it feel in the 50's.

Daytime period without the rains is average about 70-80 in a sunny day, If, it rains , expect the humidity level, to go up and temperatures to drop. You won't feel the humidity like in the summer.

I am currently in Ireland but moving to Qatar in March. The weather here is deplorable. We have a high temp today of 6 Degrees Celcius. I can't wait to move to some better weather.

like u said han19, it usually gets too cold somewhere in jan. with the rest of the months being comparitively pleasant. i was born and raised at qatar and did my college in india for the past 4 years so i've kinda lost track of the dramatic changes taking place in qatar save for the phenomenal asian games preps. i didn't expect the weather to get freezing at this time. ofcourse rains are always a blessing in this otherwise arid land that still has its own beauty in its own natural way..

I'm loving this weather. I read somewhere that it's the La Nina effect due to global warming and all.

it was this cold 2 years back too but not for too long though.

it rained earlier 2 years back too.

last year was considerably warmer.

global warming..this trend will continue around the world.

how long have u been here?

winters used to start in oct a couple of year back and wud last till feb or march.

past few winters have actaully been plesant weather and the only time it wud really be cold would be 2 weeks in jan and then back to pleasant weather.

this is a blessing.love the rains but its still no fun bcos people dont have the habit of walking about in the city unlike in india.

believe it, the rains are a blessing. have never felt this good in doha.

about the driving license issue, the "doha driving school" out by kharitiat is pretty good. i have a couple of friends who have gotten their license after having lessons there. don't have the number for it, but i'm sure you could get it from 180 (qtel directory service).
