Traffic incident.

If somebody was attacked in their car how would they go about filing a complaint?

Rock The Casbah you had a nice chance to pull his arm inside ( he could use only one hand while you could use both your hands to pull his arm) & wind up the windshield & he would be sort of trapped.

Release the seatbelt.

Turn facing him, open the wind shield, open the door lock & kick the door open with all force.

His knee cap would be off or atleast he would be limping & in no mood for a fight.

Although I accept anybody can be surprised by a violent man.

Anyway complain to the police as mentioned above & take care mate.

Go to Central security Division Next to HSBC near cornice and report the matter to the officer-in-charge. He speaks engligh and he will direct you to police station concern. by the time you go there the officer in charge of the police station knows that you are coming and what is your complain. Then you have 2 choices which you can choose. I have encounterd one during the Asian Games. Check that thread for more details.

As pm stated ignore the pessimists in this thread saying the police won't do anything, these matters are taken seriously and with the witness you can have the person charged. Why not ask the witness to help you explain what happened?

Don't let it go. Follow it up.

No Rock, believe me they're very serious and will bring the other person in.

I have some bruising on my ribs but nothing major. Its more my pride that was hurt. I can take care of myself but because I had my seatbelt on I couldn't do anything except shield myself.

I am sorry to say, but, the police on the phone have indeed been generally useless/not interested which has left me with the assumption that paying a personal visit will probably yield the same results.

what happened this time? Looks like the first guy who targeted you before is sending you his mates. Just go to any of the Traffic police stations and report it, the phone means that by the end of the call the officer would be forgetting completely about it.

If he did not hit you with his car then you should go to somewhere else because it would be none of the traffic police business. Go to Al Sadd, Matar or even City police station to report him.

Best Regards

Well then you can nail the guy. Do it.

there was a local who pulled over on the other side of the road. He gave me his phone number as a witness.

That would have been my initial idea. I wound the window down and he started punching. He then pulled the door open and started kicking and punching. I was fumbling trying to get my seatbelt off but he ran off and jumped in his car.

Edit - I am now going to get drunk and forget about it for tonight.

If it's not a traffic accident-related incident traffic police won't deal with it.

Don't do it on the phone. Just go. Last couple of times I went it was to Al Sadd police station which is near the British Council.

Ask to see the lieutenant on duty.

They'll take it from there. If there's another car involved give them the license plate number.

You can never do anything official on the phone here.

The one you need to go to is the one in the airport area (bit hard to find). No one there will speak English, they will take your statement, and that's that.

I phoned the local one today who gave me the number of the traffic police to phone. They gave me the number of the criminal division as they couldn't deal with it. The CD gave me another number which I phoned and they asked me to call back later as there is nobody there that can speak English.

Excuse me from having a chuckle at your "very simple" comment but I wish it was as simple as walking into a police station.

And watch while they do nothing about it.
