Rescue patrol gets cracking
‘Al Fazaa’, the police force meant to enhance public security and ease traffic on Qatar’s roads, started its operations yesterday.Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Faisal al-Thani, director of the force, said that ‘Al Fazaa’ (or Rescue patrol) would start with the deployment of 150 vehicles in 13 zones in Doha “to provide social and humanitarian services to all the residents of the country 24 hours-a-day”. The director of Al Fazaa told reporters at the new force’s headquarters in Mamoura that a patrol comprising one or two vehicles would be deployed, according to the strength of the population in a particular zone. Additional vehicles would be stationed on roads between towns on the North Road, Coastal Road, Dukhan Road, Mesaieed Road and Salwa Road. He said that the force would play a major role in maintaining public order through its presence on the roads as well as speedier movement of traffic and intense surveillance on all central and suburban routes. “For this purpose, we have well-trained personnel with a mandate to ease jams, catch traffic rule violators, ensure road safety, respond to all situations that require immediate intervention and extend help in case of emergencies.” The official said that the force’s personnel were distributed in such a way that the average time required for intervention was between five and seven minutes. He said ‘Al Fazaa’ would also facilitate the landing of HMC’s air ambulances.

this R/A to signal. The R/A serves no purpose there but clogged the traffic flow. From Barwa Housing going to that R/A. it's always a bottleneck because all those cars going to the right (which is supposed to be a free flow) lane is all-time stuck! Doesn't this one piss you off?

you're trying to picture is always a hell from 6AM. The R/A near the Woqod is worst all day, weekdays! The traffic dept. should reinforce the police team on this area. I hope they can do something soon as there was an accident a week ago on that R/A (1 died on the road).

I got to give partial credit to those traffic cops lately, Why? Because lately in the morning the waiting time for all traffic merging from Industrial area, traveling along muztasa road (sorry for the miss spelled) the waiting time, has lessen to 10 minutes max, specially the nasty roundabout next to the two wagoo gas stations is always congested and very dangerous to negotiate. (another miss-spelled). Those Cops are always there.
But inbound to industrial area at 7:00am is another story of sadness. No cops at all to monitor the roundabout, anyhow you will never witness a cop. I'm talking of the last round about inbound (karwa taxi entrance) after the last circle and traffic camera. It is sad to watch the line of vehicles waiting.
