is travel by Qatar airwas really cheap and convenient ?

Should we fall prey to Qatar airways tactics in the lure of cheap air tickets?
In fact, it works out to be very expensive travel at the end.

The attached email correspondence between me and the airlines explains how Qatar airways behave with India bound passengers. I just want to disseminate my experience as a good lesson learned.

i preffer QA because of only one reason that it has direct flights to lahore twice in a week... this direct flight is my weak point...

i dont know about change free tickets from qatar airways except open ticket. for even full privilage ticket they charge 450 QR . the best way to get liquer to ask some attendent pass by. they only served first rows and dissapear. it may be giving good service for some destinations. but all the time i saw this image. my simple argument is they are not in the caliber of star airline when excellent airlines avilable.

I like Etihad too. But they really screwed up once when i was flying from doha and there was a stop over at abu dhabi. We took off late and hence missed the connecting flight. At abu dhabi, they made us stand 1 hr in a line at the end of which they told us 'sorry, your flight took of 2 hrs ago'.

Then they lied about the next flight (which turned out to be after 12 hours) and kept lying about the arrangement they were going to make for us.

But nevertheless, i did like their food and the service on the plane.

it depends where you are traveling.

For example, traveling from Qatar to Bahrain is cheap.

Qatar to UK is very well priced.

Qatar to Japan in my opinion is over priced usually, however cheap on some days.

@deept, you don't get penalized 450QR for changing a flight.

If you have a certain discount rate, you cannot change a flight.

If you have a super saver, you get charged 200QR

If you have a standard ticket changing is free.

And which is it? Do they serve liqour or not? Because you contradict yourself. (They do serve alcohol by the way but not on certain flights e.g. to Saudi).

@tallg, my last flight was 3200 to England.

@dominochow, if you've never flown with QA, how do you know their service is slipping?

is a lousy airline. The seat configuration is the absolute minimum (meaning there is no legroom) and the service is very poor. When you make a booking and request specific seats you will be told that your seats are confirmed, but when you check in (even very early) you will find that your 'reserved' seats have been given to someone else. Never again do we fly with QA.

Sorry, but your problem is not entirely unique to Qatar Airways, they are all following IATA regulations and stick to them- if you are smart you will always get out good- but you need to research before you contact the company- which you obviously didn't- that is your own fault

it is the worst airline with the airlines i saw. no liquer/ or you have to hunt somebody to get the next glass for hours. poor service and high tiket prices. also you will be penalized if you changed the flights by 450 QR. eventhough my family ticket fully payed by the company i will not select QR in the next time

jauntie - I've always found BA cheaper for flights between Qatar and the UK. What do you normally pay for a return on QA?

gangadhar63, I read your enclosed correspondence completely. Now, you made me frightened as i booked QA as my first eid holiday vacation trip with my family.

Stealth, as per my personal survey with most of other airlines, the QA fares are 30-50% higher to asian subcontinent unquestionably

it's cheaper than British Airways (to the best of my memory, cos if BA was cheaper I would chose them to fly to Qatar!)

It's also a direct flight. Cheaper ones aren't.

I like Etihad too the only thing is the stopover in Abu Dhabi that I don't care for.

to be good airline to fly with. Between Qatar & Etihad, Etihad had the better service, food & entertainment.

When I flew here in October, every time I needed to change a channel, I kept catching the person next to me & visa versa. Of all places, they put it in the left had arm of the seat.

Give Abu Baaker a call and let him know what happened he might get you your money back.

As already stated QA is definitely not cheap! To fly anywhere with them from Qatar is expensive. I've had cases where it would be cheaper to fly BA back to the UK and get a flight from there to my destination!

I guess they figure that people who are flying out of Qatar have enough money not to care about paying a bit extra (they just want to get away!) or their company is paying the fare.

On the plus side I find the QA experience better; nicer staff, food, furnishings and entertainment. So the higher price does go towards something.

they are so many other airlines in the gulf why travel with the worst one ? i have and never will fly with QA, one reason is simply because they do not fly to Sydney, the other reasons are the service is dropping i don’t care how many awards they win, also they are losing their staff at a tremendous rate. Why would i fly with an airline which does not value their staff or the efforts the staff put in, without them they would be no QA.
