This has been an eye opener for many leaders, but nothing much will change. The USA is still the Big Dog and Merkel , whilst miffed, will have to continue to work with them.
Now the whole world knows who are the worlds worst terrorists and criminals from killing innocent women and children in Vietnam, Japan, Iraq and Afghanistan and through all those drone attacks in Pakistan and they want catch and imprison the honest guys like Edward Snowden who went about exposing the dirty tricks of the Americans. Looks like the so called greatest democracy in the world is the worlds biggest hypocrisy
And EU leaders were putting all their efforts to catch him :) and the Bolivian President Evo Morales was stuck because of them.. now they understand that big brother is worse than a school kid who don't like to cheat to pass his examination.

From as early as 2002, NSA was spying on Merkel but the most hilarious excuse is that "uncle sam" was not aware of it. :) and if he knows he would have asked them to Stopped. :))
Ironic that the Germans are the ones concerned with privacy and lecturing America when you look at the history books.
