While watching the match, it was very clear that at 88 minutes of the game, Urguay player committed hand ball near their goal post, but some how match referee missed it and not awarded penalty to France. so France missed a certain victory.
During that particular incident, when the ball was sort of accidently bounced into the arm of the uruguayan defender, and the french were claiming a handball, the commentator on al jazeera,Yusuf al saif said that the Irish are extremely satisfied that no penalty was awarded to france, and henry in particular! he even said that the Irish were praying that henry wil have a bad game with his team!
referees are also human & have two eyes only just like the rest of us,sometimes they miss stuff when there's a lot happening on the pitch & are you 100% sure France would've converted the penalty if awarded one?...anything can happen in the game of football...if we're talking handball,France shouldn't even be in the World Cup this time thanks to Henri's handball which actually saw them through that final qualifying game @ the cost of another country...
So yes, you're right maybe they would've converted the penalty but who's to say 100% they would & if they did, who's to say Uruguay wouldn't have scored a last minute equalizer through Forlan or someone?...It's all possible in the beautiful game eh!!! as things stand, the game ended 0-0,let's see how they both progress in the group...
I'm not suggesting anything, the officials rule is final, as harsh as that is sometimes...look at Frances handball against Ireland which got France into the finals... actually one thing I can suggest is maybe each team is allowed 1 appeal to the video/match ref as the case here, but it was an accidental handball, but yes France were hard done by, but thats karma as I mentioned above in the Ireland game...
