"An Electrical fire happened - yes the Nursery was not equipped to deal with that - but have any of you asked this question - Did the parents who left their children in this 'nursery' check out 'fire regulations'?

Did the so called 'teachers' ever ask about 'safety'?"

WTF!

Poachedeggs you freakin retard! Now it's the parents and teachers fault! And what the hell is this "so called teachers business"?

It's very rare indeed that I throw insults at QL users, but you are bang out of order for posting the above, and deserve some strong words. It sounds to me like you are somehow involved in one of the business's in villaggio to be defending it in the way you are.

Shame on you for daring to say it's the parents own fault that they lost their children because they weren't vigilant enough to check the fire regulations.

I have read some stupid posts on the Villaggio disaster. But yours are the cruelest and most insensitive to date, and I hope you spill your coffee today.

What happened at Villagio was truly awful. A tragedy. I wept for days over those kids - by the way I live on the same compound as the triplets and my kids went to school with the 3 Spanish kids that died. So I am/was touched by it all.

It happened; it was/is still sad but in today's world all over the world there are such things called accidents and tragedies and this was one.

By avoiding Villagio you are doing nothing to help at all. You not shopping in Carrefour/Marks and Spencers/Next etc will not bring anybody back or alter what happened.

An Electrical fire happened - yes the Nursery was not equipped to deal with that - but have any of you asked this question - Did the parents who left their children in this 'nursery' check out 'fire regulations'?

Did the so called 'teachers' ever ask about 'safety'?

WHEN those teachers took over the job they must have noticed there was no fire escape and also as a parent do you not look for safety gates - locks on cupboards and fire escapes? I know I have with all of mine where ever I have been in the world.

So there has to be some shared responsibility here and as the father of the triplets said - no witch hunt wanted.

Back off knee jerk reactionary's!

I just said I haven't gone to the place since the fire nor have plans going near there... it's my choice.

My initial thoughts was hope that no one got hurt during that running and screaming. People get hurt in stampedes...

Don't know why the hostility and name-calling?

By stealth• 17 Dec 2012 15:57

have had no reason to go there. will i go there in future? only time will tell..

I needed to return to Villaggio recently. I found it spooky and depressing. unless I need (in other words; if there is no other choice than) to return, I will not. This is my grown up and mature choice.

Well jasmine, you might find it sensible not to go on about it, or even not to "constantly" post on QL. That is perfectly fine.

As it is perfectly fine for people to do the opposite, each to their own, you know.:)

Hi Leo, I have been on QL for 7 years, hardly a troll. How about you dear? I think there is not much more idiotic than people who call people trolls because they are too thick to argue their point.

By jasminejasmine• 17 Dec 2012 12:00
jasminejasmine

Yes it is sensitive so stop going on and on and on and on about it. There are other issues you could debate, human rights, the justice of those in prison (are you sure they all had a fair trial?, the plight of some of the workers here (not western so not fashionable to care) and so on. Don't go to Villagio, broadcast it all you want, why on earth would I care what you do any more than you care what I do. The difference is I don't spend all day every day on this forum banging on about the same thing. Just because you live through this forum doesn't mean you own it.

Usual unnecessary stuff...:( The post is absolutely clear and talks of an incident, if you know say if not stay clear. Is that so difficult to understand specially when the name Villagio is currently under list of sensitive issues. Why so much of name calling...useless.

By nomerci• 17 Dec 2012 11:23

So people who go to Villaggio can say this on QL, but those who don't go there must keep that to themselves?

By jasminejasmine• 17 Dec 2012 10:21

Go or don't go, I couldn't care less as could the 99% of the population who spend less than 23 hours a day spouting on Qatar Living. But stop posting endless stuff about how you won't go to make yourself sound good.

By gmz21• 17 Dec 2012 09:37

Why the hate, is Villagio the mall that had a fire happen last year or something. If so people need to forget that, and I don't want to sound empathetically or even if I come across like I am one, but people need to let the pain heal away, I mean look at Hiroshima I don't think Japan runs away from that place because of WW2, or the tsunami incident and the nuclear incident that are recent, they confront it, so you people should do the same thing confront the place, and hope for the best.

Side note: If I sound empathetic I am sorry, I truly feel bad for those kids, and my heart goes to those familys.

By fubar• 17 Dec 2012 09:26

It's all over... It was all Nike's fault, no need for any more court cases about kids killed by the incompetence of others.

By kiwis• 17 Dec 2012 09:19

why such ugly comments? What has lack of intelligence got to do with people making a choice not to go to Villagio anymore???? I honestly don't get why people can't just respect that we all have different opinions and name calling and belittling others who don't share the same opinion as you is not necessary.

Give it a rest, people running and screaming? Such responsible and mature behaviour. Idiots indeed. Maybe time to get a grip. Don't go if you don't want to, the rest of us choose to go because we are intelligent enough to make our own choices based on facts rather than people who spend 99% of their time on a tiny little internet forum making themselves feel good by banging on about something that, horrible though it was, is over.

The place will be haunted until the justice for the kids that died there is served!

Everyone has a choice, and if anyone does'nt want to go there its their choice! Will not go there until the preparatory have faced justice!

Yes this kind of tragedy happens all over the world, but someone does carry the can, here no one wants to even talk about it and brush it under the carpet, then facing the truth and putting their hands up and taking some responsibility for what happened!

By kiwis• 17 Dec 2012 08:25

Your comments to Azialana were completely uncalled for - as some of the others have expressed this is the place to share our own opinions and not to insult others for doing so.

I will never visit Villagio again - I agree with kiwiinqatar123 that Villagio is now Tapu after that horrible tragedy.

If you don't agree and want to continue to go there that's completely up to you.

May all of those sweet children, brave teachers and firefighters rest in peace. My heart goes out to their families who have to live with the pain of having lost their loved ones.

There is nothing wrong in avoiding a place which is filled with sadness and tragedy. People like poached eggs are probably the sort who will watch a train wreck with morbid fascination or a roadkill with eagerness.

kiwiinqatar123 and Azialana!

Haven't been to the mall after that horrible tragedy. This is my personal choice.

By anonymous• 17 Dec 2012 07:41

I'm with Azilana. I have not been back since the tragedy. There is nothing there that you can't get in other malls around the place.

Poachedeggs: Yes it could have happened anywhere, and it happened in Villagio.

Does "Get real" mean think the same way as me? Believe it or not, people have different perspectives, beliefs and values that will differ from your own.

I see no evidence of Azilana blaming anyone. Don't mistake a real concern for safety, as "over dramatic".

Personally, I feel the place is Tapu and as such, will not go anywhere near there. However, I understand that you may have no problem visiting there and I accept and respect your belief in that.

QL is for sharing opinions, discussing topics, and sharing interests and ideas. People have a right to express these and their perspectives without fear of being called an idiot or having negative feelings being instilled in them from others.

Then what an idiot you are then.

It could have happened in any Mall/shop/school over here.

Do you honestly think the malls or shops you 'grace your presence with' were/are any safer than Villagio'?

It was an accident- sad, tragic and horrible but an accident.

Get real.

Instead of being over dramatic why not be sensible and recognise tragedies like this happen all over the world.

It's just not Doha that has fires or tragedies. It happens all over the world.

Stop blaming and get to grips Qatar had a tragedy...instead of talking about blame; let us ALL look how we can improve us all so something like this and what has just happened in America does not happen again.
