does anyone know when the mall is going to open .. i assume it will be open by the games but will it have any shop that will mark it apart to city centre.

it looks about 2 times bigger than city centre but its only one floor compared to the city centre (i tried and caluclate it roughly ... cant believe i had to search the internet how to calculate the area of a circle (was what i thought lol) even though i got an A in A-level maths only a few years ago ... british education you say :)

here's some pics taken from google ... there seems to have more updated pics and higher res (certainly taken this year i think)

N.B. They only just got higher res pics for Dubai until know had as high res as cities like Abidjan and Quitto (but still google doesnt call it Dubai i think...)

Canarybird,

I am looking for some retail space in City Center and read your entry in qatarliving. Do you have any information regarding the price of space in CC or any of the other malls in Doha. If not, do you have the contact details of anyone who might know?

Thank you in advance

Martin

Hi Everybody, am back after a long time :)

Actually, Carrefour will open in Villagio between July or August, and the store will be fully operational. so you don't have to go to carrefour of City Center any more, the mall of villagio needs a lot of time to be finished, but for us in carrefour , we can't wait for villagio to be finished we will open soon.....we arein the final process.....

Unfortunately he did not go into detail but I am sure it will be beautiful when it is finished. My other hope is that we will be able to find a couple of banks fully operating there .

what is taking so loooong?

its looked externally ready since the begining of the year at least and although i understand that internally it is another situation ... it should surely not take well over a year to open especially as it is only a one floor building

I hope it will be impressive but looking at it from outside im not too optimistic

I Spoke to the Leasing Manager of City Centre and as I understand this is under German Management I met him because I was lookingof premises in City Centre and asked about the openingof Il Vilaggio he told me it would probably be February 2007. I was surprised to because I was hoping very much that it would be earlier as it is a pain always to go to the City Centre because of the traffic.

THat is terrible ... it is not going to open for the asian games ...

it cannot be that far from completion and getting at least a few stores shud be prioirty esp[ecially considering that is practiavlly a part of sports city as diagram above shows

in early 2005 it was suppsoed to have had a soft opening in late 2005 (qatari deadlines)

is it owned by the same people as cIty center or someone else

I recently talked to the leasing Manager from Carrefour he informed me that it will not be opening until Ferbruary next year so not for the Aisan Games unfortunately.

I will be very glad when it opens as it is only across the road from where I am living and then I don't have to go to city centre any more.
