Websites forced to name trolls

Two interesting stories from the BBC.

The first details new plans that will require British websites to name and shame internet trolls who bully and abuse other users.

Full story:
"Websites will soon to be forced to identify people who have posted defamatory messages online."
http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-18404621

The second is about a woman who was abused on Facebook by internet trolls and has had Facebook name the trolls who could be subject to prosecution.

"A woman who was abused on the internet has won court backing in her bid to gain the identities of those who targeted her."

Should this be followed by QL?

It would mean verifying identities, handing over IP addresses upon request, etc. The point is that it places pressure on the site to police against trolls.

You get some real malicious and obnoxious users on QL that should be warned against. Specially the ones who go around threatening others and spreading hate. Problem is a Troll too might have his/her supporters and someone who is a troll to some may considered a hero by others!

Before some idiot complains that this has nothing to do with Qatar . . . keep in mind this: QL uses servers in England (http://www.websitevalue.us/www/qatarliving.com)

making it potentially subject to that country's laws. And there are an awful lot of abusive trolls here.

More important for discussion--is this a good move in Britain and should other countries and QL follow?
