death is not the end . It is the beginning of a new adventure..

By anonymous• 21 Mar 2011 14:25

The problem is that death is not at the 'end of life'. It is 'instead of life', or 'the absence of life.'

By anonymous• 21 Mar 2011 14:11

If "life" is the opposite of "death" then there can't be "life after death". Otherwise it would mean that you can live as many lives as you want if you dare to die as many times before. Sounds like utter nonsense.

Rizzo,

So I ask you again. Would you do wicked or if you want to call it, bad things if you lost your faith and fear?

My answer: Yes, I would as a human being with lots of desires and faults. Probably sleeping with my brothers' wives,or friends wives, sisters or even mother or even some males, or with an animal, probably drink a lot or even drink pi*ss, eating whatever that comes to me, looking down upon others, not helping others, not give sh*it about the consequence of my selfish actions, lie through the teeth, steal from others, screw others, oppress the weak, cheat, well probably do all the bad things that can ever exist.

Yes I am a bad man but luckily faith keeps me in check.I have my Jeremy Cricket. I hope this answers your question.

Excuse me like? You don't have the obligation under your religion to "spread the word"?

Why do you refer to my signatory?

And here you said

" The reason they think of death as often as possible is that the fear of God and death will always act as a deterrent for them to behave badly and against their religious laws."

Deter them from behaving badly. I am sure by that you are not talking about licking the spoon or leaving the toilet seat down.

So I ask you again. Would you do wicked or if you want to call it, bad things if you lost your faith and fear?

You know EMC, there are actually people in this world who act properly without needing to be threatened with death or getting fired etc.

And then there are people who say they believe in religion/afterlife etc. and they do not behave properly.

You'll find all kinds...there is no universal rule that works for all IMHO.

Rizzo, I am dumbfounded! Is that all you can come up with?

So where is the contradiction?WHEN DID I SAY THERE IS A CONTRACDICTION? You can believe in whatever you want to but if you want others to sit up and take notice you better provide good reason to demonstrate that is tue. Otherwise it is white noise. WHEN DID I SAY I WANT OTHERS TO SIT UP AND TAKE NOTICE?

If you think you need to have faith in your religion to stop you from leading a wicked life, then by all means go for it.

But if you are telling me that if you did not fear god and lost faith that you would lead a wicked life of raping pillaging, murdering and torturing then I would suggest you are really selling yourself short of what it means to be a human being and your ability to reason. I AM OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH. I RESPECT WHAT YOU SAID. I CANNOT DENY YOU THAT RIGHT. BUT WHEN DID SAY THAT NOT FEARING GOD WOULD LEAD TO A WICKED LIFE? WHEN DID I WRITE THE WORD WICKED? DON'T PUT YOUR WORDS IN MY MOUTH? I DID NOT DO SAME TO YOU.

All I was saying is that for those who profess the religion of Islam, thinking of death is commended because death is the uninvited guest that comes at any time. Having this fear provides a deterrence to acting against God's Law.

Just look at Gaddafi, for instance. The fear of getting killed or his whole army being wiped out caused him to behave as the UN wants him to behave. He has to follow the International Laws. If there wasn't that fear, he would have continued to kill his people.

Another example: If you did not fear doing what you want as you want at work, you would have been sacked long time ago. Because of the fear of breaking rules at work make you behave in accordance to office rules. Otherwise, you would do as you want. Likewise, Muslims have this belief that these instant corrective actions I mentioned above only happens after death. Therefore not knowing how it would look like, the good ones try to adhere as strictly as possible to God's commands according to their religious books. Simple. It is a belief they cherish and have the right to cherish without being treated as fools by some.

Rizzo signature line is: If you're in favor of freedom of speech, that means you're in favor of freedom of speech precisely for views you despise.

I like that. He must be a very intelligent person. As such he would appreciate and accept that one religion that teaches its followers to be constantly reminded of death is Islam and it also recommends its followers to enjoy the good things in life as prescribed in their religious book. The reason they think of death as often as possible is that the fear of God and death will always act as a deterrent for them to behave badly and against their religious laws. In Islam, this life is only temporary and the eternal one is the one beyond death. This life is a test which you either pass or fail to reach a good or bad destination in the hereafter.

Now whether this is followed by all those who profess Islam as a religion is a different matter. Whether you want to believe this or not is also another matter.

And as an intelligent person, I am sure Rizzo would respect that view which others so dearly cherish as the others would respect his.
