What's wrong with teenagers these days?

They lost their 10-year-old son as he crossed a road and was struck down by a speeding driver.
As if that weren't enough, the parents of Sean Hamilton were on Thursday abused by the foul-mouthed friends of the teenager who knocked their son over and left him to die.

Certain parts of so called middle class Britain which used to pride itself as being the backbone of society and the economy of the country is fastly slipping into the mentality of the low class?

Bad parenting. Thats the root cause of all the problems.

Mixt it with TV and internet and you get a combustible concoction.

A neurotic will be the icing on the cake.

Yep! It's a vicious circle.. Teens giving birth to girls who themselves become teen mothers. Fathers absconding after finding out that the girl is pregnant.

My point was that this shouldn't be used as an excuse any longer. Parents MUST be held accountable for the actions of their offspring at least till they reach 18 years of age.

What is the result of worn insulation of power cable carrying 440 volts?

What is the result of leaving steearing wheel free in the middle of road?

What is the result of loosing control during landing an air plane?

Disaster.

As a parent, you know better how to harness the power and utilise the power.

If you give good direction, same young people can change the world.

I think we had this same discussion a while back...

The Dole and council houses being the easy way out for young kids to get away from home by falling pregnant...

If you think about it, the teens of today are probably the kids of those that took advantage of this in few years back... moms and dads that don't care cause they themselves have very little education and were more or less on their own road to destruction - how can they be role models for their children, if they did almost the same thing?

I think people feel "entitled" no matter how lazy, neglectful and abusive they are....they have lived in a pc welfare state far too long.

too common, like young Gulf Arabs driving white land cruisers flashing their lights on my tail when I am driving in Doha. Should I act surprised the next time I venture out in my car and it happens again? No, and likewise I am not surprised about this terrible story.

I believe that you have a clearer picture when you have lived there, but if we start telling people they have no right to comment unless they live in the place being discussed, then qatarliving will be more factionalised than it is now.

Part of the society has been marginalised. The stupid antics of the government with its handout schemes and asbos has allowed these morons to assume that the world owes them a living and that anything they do is beyond reproach..

Hopefully, the time is nigh to say Enough !

All of a sudden its become "cool" to be demonic! A glance through my teenage cousins' FB recently totally disgusted me. Descriptions of ones self as "Everyone has an evil side I just choose not to hide it" to "angel on the outside devil in the inside" etc is like all the rage! And Subhanallah the bad attitude, rudeness and foul speech..yikes! Its not just four letter words anymore..and mind you its a part of their vocabulary! *sighs* So no I cannot say its about the country, me thinks the world is fast changing and parents should be aware more than ever before. Sadly though at times the grown ups are just as bad =(

mate its just sad when something like this does not suprise you. And i do believe that you have to live there to see what state it is in. Things like this rarely make the news anymore, as it is common place. So very very sad.

the kind of offenses like hanging a baby on the wall with celo-tape? And what about teenagers like the ones in the OP. Back home now, the poor l'il lad is given 6 months of "therapy" at taxpayers' expense, time in a youth facility and then set up back in his township on the dole since he is no doubt "traumatized" by his time in the youth facility and unable to work or contribute to society. They are leeches.

People should not have children if they are not ready to take responsibility seriously. Parents need to take discipline of children seriously. And mild disciplinary punishments shouldn't be categorised as child abuse. But everything is happening in extremes it seems, either severe neglect or harsh abuse.

Let's don't start this "unless you live there you can't comment" shyte.

I personally don't believe all is lost but we do have to pull back from this PC crap and start taking back our country to stand for what it once stood for and stop trying to accommodate everyone and everything.

crime and acts like these will never stop until the powers that be take their heads out of their a55es and grow some balls. Another class story from old blighty of a drug addict mother selo-taping her baby son to a wall and leaving his bottle just out of grasp for fun!!! what will happen? NOTHING! and brit i dont agree, it is as bad as that!

Yes, there are outside influences, but children SHOULD be the primary concern of parents. Too many absolve this responsibility to schools and government bodies.

I agree that too much liberalism, but I also blame bad parenting. Most Parents don't take responsibility for the actions of their offspring any more. Also, the government and judiciary needs to be stronger when dealing with such morons.
