When does a child start to rebel?

When he/she defends his/her own set of new friends?
Sorry for the thought. I just wanted to see why I hadn't done such one of this in my childhood days. Not that I want to defend the community I go through, but I never had a certain type of group that I usually go out. I stay at home and help my grandma with the house while fixing some of my old man's 'unfinished family economy'. Although my brother was the rebellious among us 3 siblings (one's a sis), I accept his own shortcomings although he chooses that way.
so what makes a child start to rebel?
I rebelled when I found out how dysfunctional everyone was around me and that they were more than happy to bring me down with them. Hence I take life too seriously and am rarely capable of having a laugh. Becuase I felt people take life too much in jest.

QL.... just a (very nice) way of live..... :)
it was my mother who made me rebel when she said:" One doesn't do this!" I was around 3 or 4.
