Who's seen the most Plastic and Bar Codes ?

Hi all,

I have a new hobby (game really) - It's called "spot the Bar code". I play it all the time in the car now.

I was just wondering who has seen the most delivery plastic and bar codes in/on a car (seats, door foam pads, windows, wheels etc.)? You get 1 point for each item of plastic / delivery trim and extra points if the car is really old (i.e. no hope of looking like new!)

Also, I am having an argument with a collegue of mine about several points which affect the rules and point scoring of my new game. Namely:-

1) He tells me that people think leaving the plastic on the seat covers and bar codes on the windows will "fool" people into thinking that they have just bought a new car, when in fact it is a 2004 model. I told him that nobody would ever be that stupid but he insisted it is true. Any one got any ideas about this bizarre practice and how many points you should get for spotting an older model still with the barcode on it (i.e. I thought 1 point for a car less than a year old, 2 points for a car 2 years old, etc... but should we get exponential points with car age)???
2) He tells me that it is a "special sign" if you leave the plastic on the seats and that a bar code stuck up on the front window means something completely different to someone who prefers a bar code stuck up on the rear? I have told him he is imagining it all but he says he can tell just by looking at the driver. So should you get say 1 point for bar code on the (drivers) side windows or rear doors, 2 points for the windscreen and say 5 for a bar code on the rear window (due to rarity and extra driver effort required to pull off this kind of stunt)?
3) My collegue says that you should get double points if the "delivery sticker" obscures the drivers view in a big way. Also if the driver has no facial hair we should double the total points - does this seem fair?
4) 2 points for using a mobile phone at the same time as driving and 2 points for each unsecured kid climbing near the (potentially fatal) "explosive airbags". Or is this straying too much from the original game for purists? (perhaps)
5) 50 points if the bar code says "Sainsburys sausages" instead of 2005 Land cruiser.

I'd be very interested to hear your ideas on this very important subject as soon as possible. Lets stick with the points system as it is so far and see who gets the most points over the next few months.

Drive safely,

How many points for driving with no hands on the wheel while leaning across to the passenger to engage in a conversation and letting the car drift in to the lane on the right.

A2Z: I guess so but without having some kind of distraction whilst driving I’d stick out like a sore thumb on the roads here! Without it I’d just be concentrating on the road, driving safely and never in a million years have a genuine opportunity to randomly crash into anyone!

Shreeya: OMG!!!!! Well I’d say 2 points for each and 3 for the one in the hand!

Britexpat: Good one – but you don’t get any points for correct use of the hands free function! You only get points for using a hands free car wire when walking about in the Souk (double points if you are holding the mobile in one hand and triple points if you are holding the hands free wire in the other!)

Jackmohan: lol, wouldn’t it be better to just wear plastic trousers?

Happygolucky: perhaps not, I do find that I have to drive 3cm from the bumper of the car in front just to check the bar code date. And if you flash your lights it enables you to read it better! We have had a discussion and come up with 3 points for reading a newspaper, 5 points for playing games on a laptop and 1 point for “SMSing” (if that’s a word at all)

In addition, can anyone tell me – the GREEN plastic on the headrests, is that a factory accessory or a retrofit? Because if it is a retrofit then we think it should be worth 2 points each piece.

I have seen many people here who dont remove the plastic cover..from their car seats....

Its like trying to keeping one's wife virgin as much as possible!!!

If he did not want to sit in the seat as he is afraid he might spoil it he could remove the seat and leave it home!!! Moreover its so damn uncomfortable sitting in a plastic covered car seat....

I wonder if they do the same to their furniture at home....cover it all with plastic....lol
