2 days ago my friend purchased a new LED Smart TV and we were checking out the features when his girlfriend came over. She couldn’t see my hand holding the remote, so when my friend said "Mute", I hit the mute button. He then said, "Volume up, volume down" apparently convincing his girlfriend that the TV was voice-controlled.
The next day, after work I go over to my friends apartment (my friend wasn't in yet) to find the girlfriend in front of the TV shouting, "ON! ON!" I handed her the remote. She took it and screamed "ON! ON!"

Btw, my friend's Ford Fiesta has a voice control panel... do y'all hv a Fordie there? :0)

There are more than one reason to say that this joke is completely absurd. First of all, it is downright bland. There is simply nothing funny about it. Like you make someone feel that this TV takes voice commands for operation and then when they believe you, this is a joke. I mean come on, for God's sake. Second, it is most likely told in bad taste. Why should we just single out women for being foolish. It is a fact that there are foolish women. But there is an equal (if not more) number of foolish men out there too. Last but not least, it is stupid that no one else is pointing out the absurdity of the jokes except a very few.
This is funny, some peeps need a humour transplant...Colt is one of the least sexist people I know :-)

I assumed, the reason why the wife was always insulted in general is to enable for that guy to boost his own ego and/or to cover his own fault and wrongdoing which is very unfair. :(
britexpat, yes it's a really nice one, but sometimes I also am thinking why there are so many husband/wife jokes for insulting the wife only.

What has this got to do with a woman. You tricked a women into believing something and she did. You could have, in a very exact fashion, made a man into believing such a thing. I wonder how it makes it just particular to women.
Perhaps, her gf was thinking that the remote is just like "SIRI"...Anyhow, at least you had a good laugh, lol :)
I don't understand why you were alone with your friends gf in the first place.She obviously is not vary smart to think a TV would actually be voice activated. I for one question your intentions with your friends gf.....
lol at "rise, rise" i was thinking of something. it doesn't need remote to rise.
.. and I suppose you have not yet come across the voice controlled remote comctrol that does other things besides saying rise, rise or reminding you that it is time to do the dishes

this feature (voice commands) was available 3 years ago in my hp mobile, and also it was available in my previous 2007 model car. and i can't wait to c this feature in TV and all other electronics.

Just remember that women can do things better than men, so wait and see when the lady will understand the trick, she will make another for your friend which will be worse than the trick that he made for her, hope it will not be on the bed! He will need a lot of time to get over it then.
